Hello, K E E S T A D I U M

Here’s the view of the new Yankee Stadium that Derek Jeter or Mariano Rivera might have had walking into the building from their cars this afternoon. (Well, and if they’d taken out their cell phone cameras and uploaded the shot to the Internet.)

Here’s a full story on MLB.com.

Lowe has been a steady pitcher for years, He may be good for 2009 while allowing our youngguns have another year of MiL experience. It would probably pay off in the long run.
Tomorrow is a must win, We have to end the 85 year historical stay in the Cathedral on the high note…

On the brighter side- What a catch by Gardner! That was impressive! I sure wish he could learn to hit between now and next season.

How Old is Lowe? Yup just the kind of guy Cashman is looking for- over the hill. Have some of you been Cashmans advisors over the last few years? It’s time to get some YOUNGER TALENT that might even get a little better as opposed to the guys in their twilite. Please tell me which geriatric pitcher cashman has brought in and actually earned his money?

I don’t think Cano failed potential he still has that. I’m sure Randy was crap especially compared to Cain’s glorified NL west year. My bet is Manny goes yard against your Giant.
If your going to set an argument support it with knowledge. Randy’s time wasn’t great especially due to his illustrious HOF career.

Randy Johnsons 2005 17–8 with a 3.79 ERA 211 strikeouts
Matt Cain 2008 8-13 with a 3,91 ERA 176 strikouts

Are you kidding me? Randy Johnson is a 5 time Cy young winner. “Potential” is why this team is tied for third place. He’s a nice young candidate but don’t sell Robinson Cano short.

I am getting choked up thinking about the stadium closing. I have been watching the highlights and segments on the site. thinking about the history and the memories that the old stadium has. Long live the old one in our hearts. Heres to the New Yankee Stadium, new memories, new history and back to winning ways.

Then again this team can’t hit produce more tha Moose.

If Johnson can get 17W 11L with a 5.00 era. I’m sure your biy Cain can get 20W’s here with the bombers. I’ll consider Matsui and a bag of chips. ( Matsui San your my hero) I can see how the kid is tempting but we’ll see how he does against Manny then we’ll talk.

If we don’t have what the Giants want for Cain, there is always the possibility of a three or more way transaction.
I like Matt’s suggestion of Derek Lowe because if he could handle the spotlight in Boston he should be able to pitch well in the NY spotlight. Everyone else is suspect!

I’m positive someone has confidence in Canoe’ (4/yr 30 Million dollars). I have seen the constant critizime of Cash’s signing of “big names” as in the past. The only arms worth a goldmine C.C. and Johan. We passed on the second one so it’s round two. In either case putting such worth in a single player is always a gamble there’s always the possibility of injury. I hope Robinson will bounce back and have a stellar season. Melky would have made a nice trade bait if it wasn’t for his looming bat. I’m a Melky/Canoe’ fanatic but in reality someone’s got to go and Melky seems odd man out.

Well Cano has me pretty pissed after this season and Matsui is only going to age from now on. I’d trade only after any failed/successful FA pickups. This team needs pitching. I’m not sure who would play 2B tho.

There’s so many rubbish free agent starting pitchers this year. Some of them will come good, hopefully the scouts can pick up who. It’s dfficult to judge players like Ryan Dempster, Freddy Garcia, Kyle Lohse etc who have been so terrible/injury prone in the past but might have turned a corner.

You would trade Canoe’ & Matsui for a floating 4.00 era arm in the worst division in baseball? Cain has been a reliable starter boasting a lot of inning pitched but that’s absurd. If it even were a possibility.

Like

I just read somewhere that Giants want something in the range of Price Fielder + prospects…the yankees certainly don’t have that. Cano + Matsui i’d trade but it’s never going to happen

Jon Garland? I wanted the Yanks to trade for him last season. I have always liked that dude, pretty reliable not great but I think he would fit nicely in our rotation. I’m offically sick of all the CC talk. Bronx Kidd…a hell of a year to start following the Yanks dude, ouch.

wow, that suprises me. Cain and Lincecum I would have thought would be the two immovable objects they’d rebuild around

I’ve noticed both the Mets and the Yankees both start 2009 away from their new homes, what game is going to be the season opener? I can’t recall what they’ve done in the past other than last year’s Nats game (Zimmerman walk off homer, can’t remember who they played). Is this decided next Spring, or have they announced who it’s going to be already?

Presumably it’ll be the Mets as NYY had the all-star game, or will it have to be a team who are scheduled to start at home?

I’m looking forward to closing this stadium up and opening up the new one. I apologie for being so cavalier about it, but I just recently became a Yankee fan ( in 2004 ) so I do not have much HAPPY memories about this park. Although, watching ESPN and their run of Yankee Stadium highlights certainly puts me into perspective, I’m looking forward to creating memories in the ballpark across the street. Hopefully, they are good memories.

I disagree with you if you think we should sign Mark Teixeira. We have a good offense now, we do not need to make ourselves better at something we’re already good at.

We need pitching, and despite all of our money and the new stadium, maybe that isn’t enough to lure Sabathia to New York. If it is not, let some other team sign him, one player won’t make a difference. Guys like Garland, Lowe, Sheets and Burnett are out there as well ( among others ) and there will be some good pitchers out on the trade scene as well ( Cain is an interesting name. )

The bullpen is straight, especially if Humberto Sanchez can come in and do what he did last night all year. Melancon will also get his shot in spring training, and we may be hot on Brian Fuentes’ tail this year. This all should tell you that Chamberlain will be trained and annointed ” starting pitcher “. No need to keep him there, especially now that we have this surplus of talented relievers up here. The unknown variable is whether or not his arm will hold up… it will, and you will also see more use of his changeup to ensure that. If he can throw strikes with his fastball, use his changeup and breaking stuff when ahead, he’ll be great. Just like he was doing before he came up with tendonitis.

Bring Mussina back. He wants to come back, we want him back, give him the fourth spot and a chance at 300 wins. Hughes, Aceves and Kennedy will battle it out for the number five spot, while Wang, ???, and Chamberlain head out the rotation.

As for who we should sign for that blank in the rotation? Anyone’s guess is as good as mine. Too many free agents and too many ” options ” on the table.

We forget that Harden and Lackey have options on the table.

Man, I’m like emotional today, everytime I think about Yankee stadium closing, I get choked up. I was in the Bronx in December, only the gift shop was open but I got some great pictures of the stadium. I look forward to going to games in the new stadium next year, it looks sweet!!!
