Yanks feeling a bit road weary

This obviously is not the way the Yankees wanted to open a crucial 10-game road trip — then again, at this point in the season, every game is crucial. In the end, this one went into the books as an 8-6 loss to the Rangers, their second straight loss and the seventh in the last 10 games.

That eight-game win streak to start the second half, the one that buoyed the front office to go get Xavier Nady, Damaso Marte and Pudge Rodriguez, is but a memory right now. Minutes after Alex Rodriguez hit into a game-ending double play, Andy Pettitte said he was extremely down last night in Texas.

“I expect so much out of myself, and that’s why I’m so disappointed
tonight,” Pettitte said. “Joba was down, and we didn’t have a great
outing last night out of our starter, and it’s my job to make sure I
take us deep in the game. I take a lot of pride in doing that, and it’s
just extremely disappointing when you’re not able to do it. And it
hurts.”

With or without Joba Chamberlain, the Yankees are what they are. In what was cautioned as a transition year coming in with patience preached from the front office, they’re a good team, sure, but not world-beaters. This isn’t news. It takes an awful lot to have all cylinders click on the way to a championship season, and the Yankees have seemed to be snake-bitten more often than they’d prefer.

61-52, 6 1/2 back in the AL East, 3 1/2 out in the Wild Card.

Jeter is 2nd in the AL in grounding into double plays this year. Arod’s RISP stats are way off his usual (I’m not comparing them to last year because that was just plain ridiculous). Giambi has suddenly become more streaky than Matsui himself. Wang has been gone for a long time. Jorge’s been gone for a long time. BOTH rookie pitchers have been gone for a long time. Cano and Melky are so far from their (short) career averages. Pretty much the only thing that’s been an improvement for them this year is Mo, Moose, and Girardi’s turning Farnsworth into a useful pitcher for a while there. I can’t help but say there’s still time, but I also can’t help but think maybe this ain’t the year.

Blaming injuries to this team on the weather? C’mon, guys, now The Yankees have to play in a temperature controlled environment? Do you smell something? Because I smell salami wallet! If you want to start slamming a ball club because they didn’t build a roof, try looking at OUR team. Nice to see that we’ll still have 50 rain outs per season. Do you know who is to blame for this amount of rampant injury? THE YANKEES are to blame. Obviously, this entire team is FAT and out of shape. Obviously, whoever is in charge of making sure that the roster is ready for a long, arduous season is a clueless dullard, or the players must be telling him to get bent. Injuries will happen, but several major injuries to key players for at least the last 2 seasons tells me that the players on this team don’t give a crap about staying in shape. Don’t dignify or justify our beloved ballclub’s inability to play 162 games on weather. It’s summer, chances are it’s going to be 100 degrees some days.

We can pretty much count on Joba being out for a while. If you’re seeing Dr. Andrews, you need surgery.

Ponson on the bump tonight. Chances don’t look good for us pulling even 1 game from this miserable series. Texas crushed him last time out.

Ponson’s last game vs. Texas: 5 IP, 7 ER.

Question for the conglomerate of Yankee fans we have here:
If the Yankees end up not making the playoffs, what would your feelings on Girardi as manager be? And would they be different if they made the playoffs?

Elf,
Arguement for:
Aside from 2 mistakes (Moose v. Manny and Marte for 50), he’s handled the pitching staff well.
———————————————————————
Arguement against:
He has NO clue how to stabilize the batting order. I don’t think I’ve seen the same batting order and the same players on the field 2 days in a row this entire season.
———————————————————————
I guess I would have to say that I will give him 1 more year regardless of where we finish this season.

Sometimes I wish Jeter was more of a vocal capitan, like Thurman Munson was back in the day. Jeter isn’t the type of guy to get in someone’s face and cuss them and their mothers the eff out, he probably needs to get in his own face at this point. Jeter says all the right things and is basically like a robot during interviews, it kinda gets on my already shot nerves. His approach at the plate is driving me insane, trying to pull everything not hitting the other way anymore, swinging down into DP’s, what the hell man….still luv ya though, I feel kinda dirty getting on Jeet like this, it ain’t in my nature to bash Jeet in any way. And Alex… this dude looks lost, he looks like he doesn’t have the will to live much less play…Wake the eff up, show some signs that you have a pulse. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for Joba, poor guy, he’s a competitor and you know this is killing him, luv ya Chamberlain.

Imagine what our posts would be like if Wang was not injured and was like 14-6 or something and we were tied for 1st place.

the biggest Mistake Girardi made was not telling wang to WALK around the bases no matter what. the american league pitchers really need to be more prepared when they play NL teams….its embarassing that a 28 yr old athlete can’t go for a jog 180 ft without rupturing in his ankle.

that, i think is the saddest part of this entire year.

3 1/2 out of the card isn’t so bad. it certainly isn’t the “laughing stock” of baseball. Some people have got to stop fornicating with Zoo animals..really, I mean, come on…

Oh, and Jeterstar, there is no shame in getting on jeter for his lethargic play. I mean, everyone got on rodriguez and he wasn’t batting .281 with 4 hrs and 20 GIDP’s. In fact, there is motre of a reason to get on Jet because of the fact they aren’t winning with him playing like this.
He looks tired and depressed.

and A-Rod is getting a divorce, so i can see him being “lost” at times….batting .320 and 20+ hrs though isn’t really THAT bad….

so, we’ll see..we’ll see…3.5 back in the card

I agree michael,
You can get on both Arod and Jeter just as long as you aren’t booing them or telling them to go take a hike. They are both struggling right now. Who knows what’s going on behind the scenes (i.e. injuries, divorces, pets dying, etc.) so I really can never get on people all that much, but they’re struggling. Arod’s been solid all year, even on defense, so I’ll let him go through his crappy time now. Jeter on the other hand has been struggling all year to some extent, but I will give him that he’s managed to keep his head above water. I mean he hasn’t looked comfortable all year, but he’s really not HORRIBLE. Both guys will come around eventually. It’s the rest of the team I’m really worried about…

SPEAKING of which, the headline on yankees.com is “Yankees relying on Ponson to be innings eater.” …yikes…

Ponson is good at eating things.

This could be worse, I will agree, but it should be better.

well, maybe Jeter is just a “Victim of Fate”? (I’m Listening to Helloween right now!)

Michael,

Thanks for stopping by my mlblog earlier this morning … You’re always welcome to visit any time … and, of course, everyone else here, is also welcome to visit, to offer your comments and thoughts !!! … Jimmy [27NYY] …

http://baseballtheyankeesandlife.mlblogs.com/

Never said A-Rod was having a bad year, I think it’s his demeanor thats ticking me off the most, I like when players play with some fire now and then, he’s so fun to pick on. It looks like rain today, for whatever reason Arlington gets nasty weather, the game should be on ESPN today, so Michael you don’t have listen to our local guys today. (BTW, I’m listening to Madball a hardcore band from NYC, ‘Stand Up NY’ should be the Yanks’ theme song!)

Jeterstar,

You are right when you said, “Derek Jeter should be more of a vocal captain, like Thurman Munson” … But, as you know, that is not Jeter’s style. He leads more by example – on and off the field … This is an area that the Yankees will miss Jorge Posada the most, as Jorge is more of an “in your face type of player” – who did get in players faces, in the clubhouse … With that said, it would be great if Jeter was a little more vocal, but all the players do respect him, and I do think he does talk to players [in private, in the clubhouse] when something is needed to be said !!! … Go Yankees !!! … Jimmy [27NYY]

Yeah, Jimmy has a cool blog with some useful information and an interesting take on somethings. his analogy to a “tennis”match was really interesting.

Now, its Danzig “tired of being alive”….wow…how appropriate! after the past week of hellacious losing I kinda feel this way.

Chaz, I’d give girardi as long as the mets gave Randolf. Its only fair because Girardi DID win the Manager of the year and he is dealing with the transition from one stadium to the other, and a bunch of young pitchers…

Randolt, well, he had everything HANDED to him on a silver platter and did squat. the team hated him and Wagner made that clear.

So if willie gets that long, then so should girardi. and, he should hire randolf to be the third base coach next year! I think he’s a lousy manager but he’s a good coach.

Good points Jim, Jorge is the ‘Alpha Male’ on the Yanks, his presence is sooo missed.
Awe cheer up Michael, I’m guessing your not much of a punk rock guy? Any punk in your ipod?

Ha, how funny, Jeterstar…I am listening to a band called “Hearse”…man, I got some depressing stuff on my media player. Hearse is the new band for the original singer of Arch Enemy. Its solid yet unspectaular-the Hideki Matsui of metal.

CAN ANY AVID YANKEE FAN PLEASE HELP.
AT YANKEE STADIUM PRIOR TO GAME TIME LOTS OF MUSIC IS PLAYED.
WHAT I WOULD BELIEVE THE FIRST ONE PLAYED IS A RAP OR HIP HOP SONG. I AM TRYING TO ASCERTAIN THE BAND AND SONG. MY SON WANTS IT AS A RING TONE AS DO I. I THOUGHT IT WAS EMINEN NOT SURE. CAN SOMEONE HELP

AUSSIE BRYAN

Ok, not EVERYTHING I listen to is depressing…Danzig, yeah, i admit, thats pretty dark…and then there’s My Dying Bride…ok, yeah, thats depressing. And the nordic stuff? well, all of that is just morbid!

But I like upbeat cheery music too! Really! Um…DREAM THEATER!! yes, I found a band that I listen to that is not mega-dark.

Ok, and DIO.

I’m off the hook-no?

Aussie bryan, I have no idea. Half the stuff I listen too isn’t even in english.

Sorry dude. wish I could hAlp!

Aussie Bryan: Can you be more specific?

Jeterstar,
“Alpha Male?!” That’s hilarious! It’s soooo true. I love Arod to death (and Jeter), but they definitely NOT Alpha Males, heh. Heck, Arod is one step away from being a chick. Basically his ability to hit a baseball better than anyone alive is what keeps him a man.

Lose Yourself
Square Dance- the only Eminem songs I know. Ringtones get annoying after awhile, mine is All Along the Watch Tower intro by Hendrix, I’m so sick of it, and I have the Sex and the City theme song also, sick of that one too.

Hey, Aussie Bryan !!!

I can’t help you with the music … Remember, the only time I was at the Stadium this year was for Pope Benedict XVI’s Special Mass back in April … The Pope’s playlist is just a little different than what they play before and during each game … But, before the Mass there was an awesome mini-concert … mostly, classical, spiritual, gospel, and opera … The sound in the Stadium that day was unbelievable [really great] … A very special day I will always remember !!! … Anyway, How are you doing, Mate ??? … Jimmy [27NYY]

Just reported on WFAN …

Joba Chamberlain is going on the 15-game DL !!!

Bryan at Bombers Beat

Sorry I cannot other than when I went to all the night games starting at 7.06 PM I usually arrived at approximately 0645. At around that time music commenced prior to game time. The song / band I spoke about was ALWAYS the first one played and it was what appeared to be a hip hop/ rap band. I tried to obtain details later but without luck. SOMEONE MUST KNOW as it would appear to be the same format for all night games.

Boy do I miss NYC but hope to be back soon

The Tampa Bay Rays scored six runs in the bottom of the 9th, in their afternoon game vs. Cleveland, to comeback from losing, 7-4, to win the game, 10-7 …

The Rays are in this race until the end !!!

Also was watching the game yesterday at Texas. I thought Tampa Bay and White Sox home games were bad. The commentary from the gus at Texas was the most biased I have ever heard which yes is their right. I would have thought they had a responsibility to be reasonable but know, apparently someone complained yesterday and was told ” Switch to another Chanel Idiot ” After that I turned off and watched game and listened to a radio broadcast combining the two . When Sexon hit the Grand Slam alas to no avail I thought someone died in their broadcast booth.

Aussie Bryan

HOLY CARP!!!

Chamberlain on the DL. NICE!!! Hello, kay Igawaful.

Welcome to the bronx, freddy mercury garcia.

These three “phenoms”, namely, hughes, kennedy, and chamberlain remind me of “generation K”, Pulsipher, Wilson, and Isringhausen…”talented” but ALWAYS HURT. Now thats all three on the DL this year.

Um, i was wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.wrong.
about not getting santana. Wow. this sucks. Manny gets traded and we have a great trade deadline and NOW THIS.

“Skrooo you Guys, I’m going home!”-cartman

Girardi is just dealing he cards he is dealt, and he doesn’t have much. Willy Randolph was fired because his players distrought with him, not injured.

You guys, ” Alpha Males ” aren’t guys with big mouths, they’re men with initiative. Jeter and A-Rod are smart. I wouldn’t want my players to be talking crap like Hanky does, and then go out on the field and make fielding errors or go 0 for 4. That would just be digging your own grave and messing up team chemistry.

The Yankees are not going to make the playoffs this season for a number of reasons, in my opinion.

1. They don’t have the pitching. The offense can’t outmash people EVERYDAY. When you score 5-6 runs, like we did yesterday, that should be moe than enough for a pitcher who is capable out there. Pettitte is just declining, you can see he has the same fire, but the mechanics aren’t there anymore.

2. Too many injuries. ( Joba, Hughes, Wang, ) We’d be in first place– or at least in bettter shape tha we are now with those guys in the rotation. Posada’s presence would mean that Ohlendorf and McCutchen would still be here… in our farm system where their futures seemed bright. Instead, we’ll see them shine in Buccaneer Yellow. Same with Matsui.

3. The lack of going out and getting better pitching. Does Cashman expect Marte to dominate righties like Manny or Bay?

Everything on the hoizon right now points to one thing: next year.

Next year we have alot of superstars ot on the market. Teix, K-Rod, Sheets, Sabathia are just a few.

Our whole roster will be healthy next season.

We’ll be in the new ballpark next year! Just have fun with the couple of months we have left guys, but seriously, if you’re expecting the Yankees to make the playoffs as is, you’re fantasizing.

Aussie!!! THANK YOU!! their broadcast is terrible!! That guy sounds like he has marbles in his mouth and a Texas Ranger pole up his butt!!! Wow! can we PLEASE get out of this series and go to LAACAALALLAAACALL Angels of Anaheimen so we can get sick from those broooodcasters???

Bronxkid:

The Alpha, technically, is the guy with the biggest mouth who throws his weight around. “Alpha” doesn’t denote “leader”. Its the member of the pack who is most dominant and most authoritative. The real leader doesn’t have to be the “alpha”. the real leader of this team is Jeter, yes, but the “alpha” is posada, for sure.

And I totally disagree with you about the “playoffs being fantasy” the wild card is totally within striking distance and the last time I checked…since 2002 the wild card has won 3 world series’.

The teams competing for the Wild card have just as many holes as the Yanks…The twins and the red sox don’t look quite as scary as they did in recent years with out some big name players….

HA!HA!HA! What a bunch of cry babies!!!!!!! Your Yanks suck michael’s balls. Oh wait!!!! michael doesn’t have any balls. Now that you losers have lost Chamberlain for the season you can kisswhat little hopesyou had of making the postseason while my Twins will be looking down on you and laughing their ***** off!!!!
I do have to thank you guys though for trading that talentless piece of Crap Farnsworth to the Tigers who I hate like no one’s business. I knew he would regress to his usual form as he continues to blow up for the Tigers. IT wasn’t a matter of “if”, but rather “when”. So once again I thank you for making that deal!!!!! See you guys next season. HA! HA! HA! HA!

ESPN says hes on the 15-day DL

Matthew …

There were no details regarding the Joba injury … The Yankees recalled Chris Britton … Joba on 15-game DL

Top of the 7th …

Jeff Karstens is pitching a PERFECT GAME vs. Arizona … Pirates 1, D-Backs 0 …. Now one out in the 7th … Check it out if you can !!!

I feel that Joba needs to develop a sinker so he could get batters out with 1 pitch instead of using his whole arsenal to strike a batter out while taking 10 pitches to do it. This is why I feel his pitch count is always high plus he has a violent delivery which really makes it essential for him to develop a sinker.

Game Still in the 7th … 3-2 pitch, foul ball, still 3-2 … STRIKEOUT … Two Outs … Karstens pitching: 1-1; FLY OUT TO RIGHT … THREE OUTS … Going into the top of the 8th in Arizona … Jeff Karstens is pitcing a PERFECT GAME through 7 innings … Pirates 1, D-Backs 0 … Randy Johnson still pitching for Arizona !!! … And, Karstens just got his second hit of the game off Johnson … He’s (2-for-3)

Top of the 8th … Pirates score a run …

Pirates 2, D-Backs 0 … One Out

Totally agree, Matthew …

I don’t care if Farnsworth never gives up another hit in his whole career … Trading him was the best move of the year for the Yankees !!!

Randy Johnson out of the game in the 7th …

End of 7 innings … Pittsburg 2, Arizona 0 …. JEFF KARSTENS IS PITCHING A PERFECT GAME !!! … He needs six more outs !!!

Bottom of the 8th …

Fly Ball to center – ONE OUT

Bottom of the 8th …

One out … 2-2 pitch … GROUND OUT TO THIRD – TWO OUTS

If Jeff Karstens throws a perfect game, even if it’s against a National League team, I will eat my hat.

Well, on a 1-1 pitch to Young – DOUBLE DOWN THE LEFT FIELD LINE … End of Perfect Game !!! … Karstens gets the next batter on a ground out to second … Out Number Three !!! … Into the top of the 9th … Pirates 2, D-Backs 0

Mightminnesota, your Twins will do the same thing every year IF they see October…….choke. At least when we get into the post-season, we are expected to win. BTW, what the season series look like between The Yankees and Twins?
——————————————————————-
NYY vs. MIN – 5 wins and 2 losses, outscoring the Twinkies 44-29. You have first place in a LOUSY division. Congratulations on being the best of the worst, loser. If the Yankees were fortunate enough to play in the Central, we’d have twice the division titles, using half the talent base. Come back when your team is actually relevant, Scooter.

Mightyminn, I almost forgot: Eat a bag of meat missles.

What has happened EVERY time the Twins have faced the Yankees in an ALDS? Oh yeah, the Twins get bent over, and served like a punk BITCH. We own you. It’ll never change, losers like this continue to talk trash because they’ve won a few battles, while the Yankees laugh loudest while we win the war. You cannot stop the Yankee juggernaut, you can only hope to contain it.

These trolls have all arrived after the link to this blog went back up on the main Yanks page. Makes me laugh really. There’ll be more of them as sides like the Twins scrape into the postseason only to be swept by the Angels.

Pirates did not score in the top of the 9th …

Jeff Karstens is still in the game, in bottom of the 9th, pitching a one-hitter … Imagine, he is still in the game, looking to complete the one-hit, shutout … First batter up: WALK … Tony Clarke is the batter … ball … 1-0 … strike … 1-1 … foul ball … 1-2 … ball … 2-2 … outside … 3-2 … Grounder to the mound … fielded by Karstens … 1-6-3 DOUBLE PLAY … two outs … next batter … K … 0-1 …. K … 0-2 … ball … 1-2 … foul … foul … 1-2 … SINGLE UP THE MIDDLE … two outs, runner on first … GROUND BALL TO FIRST … easy 3-1 OUT … FINAL: Pirates 2, D-Backs 0 …. Jeff Karstens pitches a complete game, one-hit, 2-0, shutout … Karstens is now, 2-0, for the Pirates … Jimmy [27NYY] …

http://baseballtheyankeesandlife.mlblogs.com/

Who the kcuf cares what the head-to-head records are shitforbrains!!! It’s meaningless when it comes to the bigger picture which is you will be looking up at the Twins in the postseason while you watch from the comfort of your straight jacket on the nut farm. Thinking the Twins have any control over the quality of other teams is complete lunacy!!! Did they put that straight jacket on too tight or what? The Yanks are expected to win, but the sad, sad reality is that you guys don’t!! Your Shanks are nothing but disappointments, so much for expectations!!! See you next season and don’t strain your neck looking up at us. LEt us know what nut farm you’re staying at and some of us Twins fans will come around on visitor’s day and throw peanuts at you through the bars of your cage like they do at the zoo!!

Just a clear illustration of how weak the NL is. A marginal pitcher for us is a staff ace for them.

chaz,

You just gave a clear illustration of a typical sex act your Mom does with the family pig. Oh, my mistake that’s not the family pig that’s michael. That could explain why you’re such a crazy, retarded pig!!!!

chaz,

You just gave a clear illustration of a typical sex act your Mom does with the family pig. Oh, my mistake that’s not the family pig that’s michael. That could explain why you’re such a crazy, retarded pig!!!!

Are you accusing me of being crazy? Look at my handle, slapnuts, it’s Chaz “BEDLAM”. Flattery will get you nowhere. If you want to talk about “big picture”, why don’t we compare World Championships? Hmmmmmm, looks like the 3 the Twins have really stacks up well next to the 26 the Yankees have. BTW, It’s hard to strain my neck looking up at you in the standings when we aren’t even in the same division, Boner. Go ahead and win your division, I hope to see you in the ALDS, so we can stick it in and break it off like we do every year. Oh, and you might not want this season to end, shitstick, because we’re likely to own Justin Morneau in 2009 if we don’t decide on Mark Teixeira first. Again, you have no room to talk any smack, WE OWN YOU.

Way to flash your intellect, Junior. Go straight to the Mom blast because you have no valid argument to make. Dude, unlike in Minnesota, sex acts do not typically involve animals. I know that you spend alot of time over there chasing farm animals with loops in your boots, and velcro-covered gloves, but most everyone else enjoys sex with other human beings. While I’m sure you think that you are aware of what typical sex is. I feel it is my duty to inform you that sodomizing sheep is not “typical”. So, stop doing it. Feel free to do us all a favor, and take the plastic bag off your head. Or better yet, cinch that bitch shut and breathe VERY deep. http://i8.tinypic.com/4kb75s4.jpg

I just like to sit here and laugh at the “Yankees haters” that come into the blog to start sh!t for basically no reason. Let’s see here, we’re beating the Twins in our season series, and they’re only 1 game up on us in the Wild Card. Are you really talking right now mightminnesota? You play in the weakest division in the AL, if the Twins were located in the AL East they’d feel really comfortable living next to Baltimore year in and year out at the bottom.

I hope to see you in the ALDS, so we can stick it in and break it off like we do every year.

By chazbedlam@gmail.com on August 6, 2008 6:15 PM

Hey scrote,

Just because the Rocket did that to you when you thought you were bending over for your Mom, doesn’t mean you will be doing that to us. How are you going to get there by bribing the commish with a “session” with yourself and your Mom? Now we all know you’re nuts!!!!! If you’re the best Yankee fan this blog has to offer then you fans are more screwed than you think!!!!

chizz,

Sounds like you speak from experience. Sodomizing sheep? Isn’t that what your Dad did to get you Farm Boy? First a pig, and now sheep. What kind of zoo do they keep your family in?

Sper, this guy is a TOOL of the highest order. His team is only a few years away from the possibility of being retracted, and somehow we are supposed to be impressed by a one game lead. I would like to know what kind of drugs they get in Minni Soooouta, because it’s obviously phenomenal stuff. All’s that miserable state is is the USA’s Nunavut: Baron, cold, and miserable.

Wow, it’s like arguing with a broken record. Let me translate this dribble:
——–
He says: Isn’t that what your Dad did to get you Farm Boy? First a pig, and now sheep. What kind of zoo do they keep your family in?
——–
Translation: I have no clue what I’m talking about. I’m frustrated because I’m obviously overmatched, and have bitten off far more than I can chew.
——–
A more intelligent response than this would have been: “I know you are but what am I?”
——–
Just because the Rocket did that to you when you thought you were bending over for your Mom, doesn’t mean you will be doing that to us. How are you going to get there by bribing the commish with a “session” with yourself and your Mom? Now we all know you’re nuts!!!!! If you’re the best Yankee fan this blog has to offer then you fans are more screwed than you think!!!!
———
I am actually mad. Chaz is under my skin, he’s making me out to be a child, and he’s exposing me as the true dullard I am. I had better push this Mom thing, because it’s all I’ve got to go on.
———
A more intelligent response than this would have been: “Oh yeah? Well, you’re a doody head!”
———
You seem to be an angry little man, Minny. I understand that the freezing temperatures in that rat-hole state must’ve affected your ability to think, so why don’t you post on the Twins blog (if there is even enough demand for one to exist), so you and the other Trolls, Toothless Skanks, and Half-wits can type your incoherent ramblings amongst each other? Of course, if there is enough of you that are literate.

Garcia? Uh, no. His ship sailed a long time ago. Seattle pitched that poor schlub right into the ground.

Bryan Hoch get at me dog. We DL Joba and counter with Brittain? Are you kidding me. Aceline must be complete garbage if he can’t get a start over Kennadia. Aceline has had success at the highest level, Kennadia hasn’t.

I can’t believe we are considering more red sox rejects in Clement.

Aceline???

Kennedy is going to be a part of this team’s future, one way or another the Yanks need him dealing…either so he fits in at the back of the Yanks rotation or as a trading chip sometime

Pettitte, Moose, Ponson, Giese, Rasner

and then in a few weeks.. Kennedy, Pavano

News: Cashman headed to Arlington to tell Joba to get surgery. Kennadia and Pavano will be in the rotation. Pavano has received word of a start next thursday.

Aceline???

Kennedy is going to be a part of this team’s future, one way or another the Yanks need him dealing…either so he fits in at the back of the Yanks rotation or as a trading chip sometime

By candyrunts@hotmail.com on August 6, 2008 7:07 PM

Our Mexican Phenom that we just signed from the Mexican leagues.

Lol@the Kennadia part, Pirates prefered Ohlendorf to him.

Fri, Aug 15 Kansas City 7:05 PM Tickets Pavano (0-0) tba

Steve Phillips: “Joba is gonna have option of coming back as an 8th inning guy this year and then surgery.”

I would actually love to see Pavano pitch a game in pinstripes. Get the camera out etc…a historic moment in the final year of the stadium

One thing is for sure, Pavano will need bodyguards, Moose told him never to come in the clubhouse again. The Yankees even told Pavano to stay away in Tampa early this year.

Just got home from the Diamondbacks game. Jeff Karstens was awesome. He did have quite a few long outfield outs, but basically had the D-Backs off balance. Couldn’t believe they let him start the 9th and then he walked a batter. Then a double play. Then a base hit and they leave him in. He gets the last out. 2-hit, complete game shutout.

It must be a big relief to pitch where he can relax, away from the media and blog frenzy. He is 25 years old and did have a future as a 5th starter in New York.

Is that true they recalled Britton? Does that mean both Giese and Rasner in the rotation along with fat Sidney?
Or is Britton here for two days as usual, and then someone comes up to start?

We don’t have to wait two weeks for Kennedy–he is ready now. I know most of you hate Igawa, but I think he has figured it out.

Don’t give Pavano a start he is a cancer, he will hurt one of our catchers or some fluky stuff.

Bryan Hoch, I would really appreciate if you ask someone why not Aceline?

Karstens-he’s in the NL
Marte-he’s not Fuentes, Fuentes may take his job in the winter.

Seriously, Pettitte, Moose, Ponson, Rasner, Kennadia looks scary…

Put Pavano in at the 4 and wild card teams is shaking.

Yankees in a world-a-hurt.. the next week-and-a-half will show you whether they’re gonna fade or fight

We need offense every night. Cut Sexson and tell Giambi to perform.

All this makes me very positive for next season. Realistically what team on earth could even begin to think of coping with losing this much starting pitching in one season. Angels aside I don’t think many could cope with losing two out of the five for much of the season let alone the 2/3/4 that have been consistently unavailable for the Yankees

everybody should grow mustaches!

that would be worse than the Romanian soccer team who all bleached their hair.

let’s see if the Yankees can beat a 10+ era pitcher (they couldn’t beat a 7+ era pitcher last night)

um did some ***** just call me out while I was out? Did he say I have no balls? Did I just read that? Is this guy serious? I don’t have any balls…ok, well, at least I have enough balls to identify myself on this blog you spineless *****. Minnesoter? MINNESOTER???? Um, don’t you people marry your cousins or something out there? I mean, come on! Your effen team used to be the Senators!! Once a loser, always a loser. Just because you stool samples decide to move to another state doesn’t mean you are any less LOSERS. For crying out loud you don’t even own your own frekin’ ball park-the vikings own that park! And are you **** too cheap to buy a real wall for that outfield instead of that giant Hefty you have covering the seats?

This is retarded of the highest degree. AT LEAST be a Red Sox Fan or something respectable if you are going to come on here and start slamming me and calling me a pig. pig? me? Wow. Hey, well, if you say so…

But the truth is, having a Twinkie fan come on a blog and say the Yankees suck is like…like…a midget punching you in the naads then running around saying “oooh! my precious! my precious!!!”

Calling you a douchbag is an insult to Summer’s Eve and feminine hygeine products all over the world.

Why am I wasting my time. You are obviously retarded. Do you whear big boy pants? Are ya ready for Huggies “pull-ups” yet?

Oh what do i care what YOU think-you are probably a 43 yr old balding pedophile who downloads NAMBLA porn, soil’s himself, then decides to get his 2 inch jillie all standing straight again he starts posting on yankee blogs saying, in not-so-many-words “the yankees suck”

You know, the sad thing is that anal ravagers such as mini-***-soter man here doesn’t put his REAL name here. Why? Cus everyone is tough yelling crap at 100yds away.

How about this? if the Twins finish ahead of the yankees-meaning, they are playing games while the yankees are going home, you can say what ever the F you want here.

But until that time
SHUT THE F#$% UP!!!

Darn I wish we claimed Livon now.

woohoo! we got out of the 1st inning without already being behind

AND ONE LAST THING: we don’t talk about “mom’s” here. Have some respect you spermdribble.

and here.. we go.. 4? 5 runs behind?

How is that not a double play?

Is Pudge hurting us? Molina jumped in last year no problem. Pitchers are struggling with Pudge.

woohoo!! only 2 runs behind!! the Yankees are kickin’ ***!

We’re facing a pitcher with a +10ERA, WE BETTER WIN THIS GAME…

THATS IT!! I’m going to the bronx and i’m trying out for this team. Sheesh. It couldn’t hurt. well, maybe it could, since everyone is hurt already.

pudge is hurt now. Wow. This isn’t funny.

@Z No! Umpires caused them to leave their bases.

“if jeter can get the ball out of the infield”
ha. thats a stretch…

Nice hit. I’m eating crow now.

Lets win this game!

A Rod: If it seems to be on the outside of the plate, DON’T SWING! It is actually in the dirt on the outside of the left handed batters box.
Best player in BB? Come on!

From an outsiders point of view the runner was not a chance of scoring from third and could have easily without doubt avoided any collision. There we go perhaps another to the DL. How much bad luck due to injury can occur. At least the bottom of the order showed some real fight to get the hits and three runs in.

Aussie Bryan

just saw the Pudge footage.. was wondering why Loina was put in.. i think Pudge is gonna be alright.. didn’t look that hard a hit..

Giambi’s stache!!!!!

Both Pudge and ******* Murphy are out after totally reckless unnessary collision while out by ten feet at home plate. Pudge’s knee wrecked, season and possibly career. Should bring criminal charges against Murphy !

Meanwhile, Karstens has PERFECT GAME for 8 2/3 innings for Pirates to go 2 – 0 with 0.00 ERA. Why exactly did he not replace Rasner in Yanks’ rotation a month ago ?!?

Even though Karstens has had two good start for the Pirates, he would have been ripped in the AL with his average stuff. Arizona has been struggling offensively for a while now, so I wouldn’t put too much stock in what he has done. chaz is right, a good starter in the NL Central wouldn’t do al that well in the AL.

dder, Britton up for few days, till Kennedy recalled to start Friday.

This sucks. Because I know that Ponson is going to get smashed this inning. Maybe not. Hopefully he goes seven innings. Mike, yeah, you have a point about the three Wild Card teams and their WS wins, but do you seriously think we can get by with this horrible piching? I do not. Maybe if Pavano and Hughes get back and perform, taking Ponson’s and Rasner’s places. Moose, Pettitte, Hughes, Pavano and Kennedy souns alot better than Rasner, Ponson and Geise back there. But that’s in perfect world. To compete in the post season, you’ve got to have your tem as a whole and fireing on all cylinders. The Yankees are walking on a limb right now. No arms and arthritis is kicking in too. Talk about the injury bug, it seems to get worse every year. I think age has something to do with it.

Like I said before: Let’s see where we get this year. Keep some low expectations. If not, than we have a lot of stars coming out here on to the market, our team will be healthy next year, and hopefully we make some moves.

If I were Cashman, I’d focus on the pitching side of things before anything. You don’t see three Cy Young calibre pitchers on the market at the same time too often. Yeah, I’d love to nab Teix but maybe Giambi gets signed next year or who knows, maybe we finally give Wilson Betemit a chance to play full time? The guy shows great promise, he’s just ever been given the chance.

Is this a ball game coverage or The Charlie Pride Life Story. It must be because they are losing.

Aussie Bryan

we’re winning? what? no way! huh?? really?? we are?? bullsh**! really?? huh?? you’re joking! huh?? we are??

Yanks with contracts up after 2008: Giambi, Pettitte, Abreu, Mussina, Pavano, Pudge. Frees up HUGE amount of payroll, over $80 Million.

Resign Who? Abreu and maybe Moose and/or Pettitte.

Major push for FA’s Sabathia and Tiexieria.

Not $10 Million for 2009 on WashburnT.

I think Karstens was perfect through 7 2/3. Young got a hit with 2 out in the 8th.

The Yanks must have the best rotation in the hospital:
Wang, Chamberlain, Hughes, Pavano and Kennedy.

Actually, that might not be a bad line up for next year, if they could ever stay healthy. And yes Carl Pavano, I am talking to you and your bruised buttocks.

Anybody else think he owes this team something? I’d have a lot of respect for him if he agreed to come back next year for the major league minimum… Oh and won 20 games.

If we fail to make the playoffs this year, it really won’t be too bad. I mean, what other team could thrive with 5 starters out and a regulars such as Damon, A-Rod, Posada, Matsui, Duncan (& I-Rod?) all missing serious time…

Betemit shows great promise? Since when? Maybe he hasn’t been given a chance because he never has shown great promise.

Yanks leading 5 -2 in 5th and Texas SP being removed. Could Fat Sid actually be in line for a Win ?!?

UH-OH.. they’re bringing in a pitcher with a 7.94 ERA..
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, the FSN coverage is the worst I’ve ever heard!
If the MLB online coverage wasn’t so painfully delayed behind the TV feed I’d put up with John and Suzan for another game.

A-Rod seems to be in a slump (well, for A-Rod)
maybe he should grow a cool stache!

A Rod DP, way to go clutchless a-hole.

Any one recall former Yank CF Jerry Mumphrey, who George S, when he was still Boss, derided as a mere “Numbers’ Hanger” in non key situations?

A-Rod reminds me of Mumphrey. Game on the line, count on a called Strike 3 or a DP.

A Rod with the inning ending DP, again.

Who was it yesterday that said they would rather A Rod up with bases loaded than any other Yankee?

Ide like to know why.

If anyone actually said that, they were delusionable.

chazbedlam@gmail.com This post is for you. I want to apologize for all of the negative postings I have made lately. I have been a yankees fan for over 40 years and cant stand it when they lose. I have world series hopes every year and this year has been tough. If we stay close I think Tampa will fold.

Alex you are useless. What the heck was that?

These freeking texas broadcasters are delusional. I fatBoat isn’t anything special, but they said that “ponson acted his way out of a fun season here with the Texas Rangers”…um, he’s a NY Yankee now. Do you guys see where I am going with this? I bet, say, 50% of the players on that “fun” team would LOVE to talk their way out of being there to go to NY.

Delusional! I hate every other team and every other teams fans, broadcasters, journalists, and mascots right now. They all suck and they can all kiss the innermost part of my rectum. AND LIKE IT.

Does Alias keep stats on how many hits/RBI a player has when his team is ahead versus when his team is even and/or behind?
I would love to see A Rod’s numbers. Or non-numbers as the case may be.

Now THATS an olive branch if I’ve ever seen one.

michael, I take it that you8 are not having a nice day ?
Thankfully I have not been subjected to the Texas Broadcssting scum. Listening on CBS Radio to Sterling and Whathername. Yes, I know… Spare us all the obvious comments; still better than Texas broadcast.

easy now, peoples.. remember it’s still just a game

and at the end of the day, these folks make anywhere from 200K to 27.5 mil a year.. just chill and hope for the best

OMG Ponson is now the Yankees # 3 Starter, per John Sterling?

A rod has 9 hr’s when his team is ahead by 3 runs or more.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! THESE DRIED UP DOUCHBAGS IN THE RANGER BOOTH ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THE WALK OFF WIN FROM 3 DAYS AGO. NOW!!! NOW THEY ARE IN THE STANDS WHEN NADY IS UP. What is someone in texas wants to see their guy pitch? as if that doesn’t count?

NICE. Nady shut them up a little.

But what annoys me is that A-Rod hits into a routine double play and its an **amazing** double play, and some stool on the rangers hits a MISSLE at Cano and they double up on Kinsler and its a “ho hum…tough break” IT WAS A GREAT PLAY!! Even sterling would have given props to an opposing team for that.

this guy must be a goat because he is obviously retarded.

If Yankees need an “emergency catcher,” could Tony Pena be activated on the spot as Sterling and Wallman speculate?!?

I think they meant it as a joke. Question was rhetorical.

Tiger, I WAS having a nice day until i found out about Joba/DL and until I had to hear this festering pile of human remains here in the texas booth.

I think I was the delusional guy who stuck up for F-Rod. Well, he’s used up his brownie points with me now.

Matt-about the trolls…its ok. its a free country and they can say what they want. If they want to cut heads with me on words, let them. I am a “troll destroyer”. Plus, I stick up for my team and my mates who like my team (our team). You ever see Eurotrip? Remember that guy who was the HUGE Manchester United fan who beat up french guys? Yeah, thats me….with the yankees…but i don’t beat up french people.

BFD. Michael Young hits a home run. Dramatic??? DRAMATIC??? How is a solo home run down by 3 in the 6th “dramatic”? He didn’t break any records or even tie the score. This is just down right unprofessional and embarassing. Ponson is like “so what. he it is. hit it a mile.”

I seriously hate this guy (well, NOT hate, but I really, really don’t like him) He talks like he has a mouth full of warthog testicles.

Bronxkid-I agree with you but my point was that other teams competing for the wild card have the same or worse problems then us. I think we are going to win the wild card and play the angels in the first round. IF we can get to the play offs, we cna be very dangerous in a short series because we cna set up our pitching.

whoa.

check out that fro on warner over there. wow. It
looks like a giant sponge.

The Angels, the one team with a winning record over the Torre era, 1996 – 2007 Yankees, twice wiped them out in the ALDS short 5 game series in 21st Century. If we can’t beat them in the regular season, why bother with the PAIN in ALDS in October? Amazingly, we have two trips to LA and six games left with Angels (why exactly?!? How do they make up these schedules?!?), but that should tell the tale re injured Yanks 2008.

5 – 3 after 7 innings. Can Yanks’ BP hold on, for a change?

If so, Fat Sid would be 8 – 2 !?!

bpark-i’ve said it before…never trust anything steve philips says…

Tampa scored SIX in 9th to win 10 – 7 !?! Minn also wins and BoSuks winning.

Steve Philips, the a-hole who ruined the Mutts?

That was the stupidest thing I have ever witnessed.
can’t wait to get outta texas….

they just called this an “epic” series.

Again, ONLY a complete MORON would build a new non Dome, climate controlled, Stadium in Dallas where temperatures are routinely over 100 F with high humidity at night.
Oh yes, right, the Rangers’ Managing Partner at the time was Moron W….

“Epic” ROFLMAO

WHY is Rameriz facing the potential tying run in the 8th ?!?

Or will Marte now blow another game, vs Hamilton ?

Marte is apparently better being used as a “jefty specialist” than for more than an inning. Now it is up to Veras and then Mo.

*lefty spewcialist

Have lost 7 of last ten ?!?

David Murphy, a-hole who caused mindless collision at home plate witrh Purge needs MRI. Would serve him right if serilously hurt. I still want criminal charges.

johnny damon cracks me up. when he threw that ball into the stands it barely made it. *chuckle*. Jesse barfield, you are NOT!!!

Jessie Barfield, the strong armed bozo that a young Al Leiter was stupidly traded for ?

And Damon “threw like a girl” before ran into wall and hurt his shoulder and went on DL. Unbelieavable that Girardi had him starting in CF tonight. Says a lot about how low Melky’s stock has sunk with .225 BA since May.

Ninth Inning, Save Situation. Gotta go to Mo !

Thanks mo.

I’d dare say that Barfield had a better arm then Leiter!!!

I never really liked leiter. I thought he was ok, and he did throw a no no…but was he really THAT good?

Nah, I’d rather have the arm in right field then the oft injured and under-performing leiter.

But who cares they both suck.

Yeeaaah JETER! Maybe he read my post from earlier and decided to straighten out, I should get on him more often, just kidding, great game.

Leiter did have a really good career, just bloomed late like many LHP (Cf Guidry, Ron)

And Mo is now 27 for 27 in Save Situations.
First Round Hall of Famer, as Best RP ever.

Living in Oklahoma I get to listen to Tom and the other Ranger idiot at least 90 times a year if I watch the Rangers. Believe me folks these guys do this every game. They are the worse in the business. Mel Allen & Red Barber they are not. Tiger still like your Moron comments. By the way under his command the Rangers traded Sosa to the White Sox because he and Juan Gone played the same position. Guess the moron never heard of the DH. Also if memory serves me right he was the only managing partner to vote against the wild card. Good game for the pinstripes, as much as I complained about Ponson last might I have to admit he did the job.

The Mets’ announcers to (former Yanks catcher Fran Healy being the absolute worst) tend to be mind boggling bad. To hear them, the Mutts are the Greatest Team in the History of Sports, with a STORIED Record of Championships and Hall of Famers. As a result, I generally try to ignore the Mutts.

This was a “must-win” game for the Yankees tonight, and they had a BIG game, winning 5-3 … Sidney Ponson delivered another solid effort [7 1/3 innings] … and, Mariano Rivera was his “Hall of Fame” self … Also, good clutch hitting by Jeter, Damon, Giambi, and Betemit; and, that play at the plate [collision with I-Rod] was huge !!! … and, after I-Rod had to leave the game, Jose Molina filled in very nicely … Mike Mussina goes for his 15th win tomorrow night, as the Yankees go for the split in this series … Then, onto L.A. for another very important three-game series vs. the Angels … Go Yankees !!! … Jimmy [27NYY] …

http://baseballtheyankeesandlife.mlblogs.com/

The Yanks need tomorrow’s game, but c’mon guys we need to WIN series and not split. The 4 gamer with LAA was a good split but this Texas team has the worst team ERA in the AL to go with their best BA in the AL. We needed to take at least three here so a split is a fail and loss of the series is an absolute fail. We need to string a run of 8 out of 10 or something and the schedule does not look pretty with LA, that moron’s Twinkie team, KC (a small reprieve), Boston and Baltimore (who has our number for some trucked up reason). I don’t care what anybody says I’m glad Arod is on our side, he may not be raking like last year but lets not be like Boston fans and completely turn on players when they kinda struggle. I’d much rather see Arod in Pinstripes than have to pitch to him in October. He’s the kind of player that gets crucified when he doesn’t come through every time out there, if he batted .999 it wouldn’t be good enough, I admit he’s been somewhat disappointing this year but I’m glad he’s a Yankee. Hopefully Irod isn’t injured we’re gonna need him. And lastly Steve Phillips is the biggest know-nothing moron that has ever graced the great game of baseball. He’s the laughing stock of a lousy TV show (Baseball Tonight) and can’t report (if it’s whispered he reports it as fact, it’s called VERIFICATION?!?) As a journalist etc. you must verify your sources and information but Mr. Phillips feels he’s above this step and just word vomits whatever he hears rumored as fact on his crap TV show. God he makes me pissed sometimes, and by sometimes I mean whenever he speaks.

Agree re Steve Phillips. Mind numbing that he gets espn air time for idiotic statements. And also really annoying, but then that whole ESPN Bristol Conneticut crowd is in to repeated anti Yanks RedSuks and Mutts drivel.

I like baseball tonight-but I LOATHE Steve Philips. He ruins the whole damned show!!!

AND, you are right about the Conn. thing. They certainly play into their hometown…

its like these guys take out their childhood animosty on the yankees and sacrifice good journalism. I guess their thinking is that there are more fans of the 29 other teams combined then there are yankee fans…
