E-39

That’s right, we’re officially going back and changing a scoring decision from last night, taking away an error from Melky Cabrera and charging it instead to Section 39.

If you’re not familiar with the way things work at Yankee Stadium, every game brings a ‘roll call’ from the Bleacher Creatures, who chant out the names of the position players in the top of the first inning. (And if you’re not familiar with Yankee Stadium, how’s the weather look for this weekend in Boston?)

Anyway, the chant had worked around to Melky Cabrera in the first inning last night when Denard Span singled to center. Cabrera acknowledged the bleachers with a wave and then promptly booted the ball for an error, allowing Span to get to second base. Joe Girardi said that he didn’t realize what exactly happened until he saw the highlight on TV last night around 11:30 p.m. — needless to say, there was a discussion in the clubhouse this morning.

“He’s a kid having fun,” Girardi said. “You want your players to have fun, but you make sure he does it at the right time.”

Ha ha ha I love the bleacher creatures especially Bald Vinny……Yo MEEELLLKKKYYY! Good Stuff.

here’s a YouTube video of a past Yankee rollcall (start 25 seconds in)..

http://youtube.com/watch?v=THCv99YubHI

Robinson Cano …

Continues his “hot” hitting … That’s six straight multi-hit games … And, Mike Mussina is pitching another awesome game !!! … Jimmy [27NYY] …

levelboss …

“Very Cool Video” of a Yankee rollcall by the “Bleacher Creatures” … It makes you feel like you are right there in the bleachers with the rest of the Yankee fans !!! … Jimmy

Johnny Damon’s response in that video is funny.. he seems cool on things like that

Hey would you look at that.

Justin Christian made it to second base without falling on his face!

Way to go.

Vidro? What the heck to we need Vidro for? Doesn’t he work for ESPN???

Mike Mussina’s last shutout was in 2005, when he had two shutouts with the Yankees … Mussina has 57 career Complete Games, including, 23 career Shutouts … In his Yankees career, Mike Mussina has 12 Complete Games, including “8″ shutouts … What do you all think? Will Joe Girardi let Mussina stay in the game if he has a chance for a shutout??? … Of course, my answer is YES !!! … Well, I hope so !!! … Jimmy [27NYY] … http://baseballtheyankeesandlife.mlblogs.com/

105 pitches. I dont think a shutout is worth working Moose into the ground. Someone will finish the game for him.

Vidro??? VIDRO?? Torrealba? I don’t like where this is going.

And the red sox are interested in Texeira? Um, what?????

This sucks. We NEED to go after Nady and Marte. Cashman should be shipped to Abu-Dabi w/ Nermal if he doesn’t make that deal.

Who cares about Kennedy?? We don’t need him and we have a TON of arms in the Minors…sanchez, mccutchen, horne…..

I’m going to be sick. VIDRO????

matt, where did you read/hear about the trade news w/ the mariners?

Laturd Hawkins is a LOSER. He’s got a 5 run lead and can’t get anyone out. What a complete waste of a roster spot. DFA THIS CLOWN!!!!!!!!!

Well, I guess Rivera might NOT get the day off after all. Laturd is going to pitch us right into a save situation.

OK 2 outs. Now, Laturd, don’t cough up a 3 run jack.

Come on Hawkins.

LOL. Hawkins. What a complete loser. He sucks at life.

Man this guy is a waste. God forbid this team had to depend on him to hold a one run lead.

If Rivera is NOT warming up he needs to be.

there is NO REASON for Mo to be in this game right now.

Freeeking Hawkins sucks. This is ridiculous.

Girardi has to be pissed off right now a five run lead and he has to bring in Mo because hawkins can’t get three outs.

I know it’s a win but they NEED to dump Hawkins, what a bum!!!

Well, Mo only had to throw 4 pitches for his 25th save. Stupid Laturd.

Did you guys here that with Papelbum getting his 30th save yesterday, that it’s the FIRST time in Red Sox history that they have had 30 plus saves in 3 consecutive seasons? What a bunch of tools.

oh my god how much does he suck. Farnsworth should be pitching situations like this, and we NEEEEEEEED Fuentes or Marte.
DFA LaToya For sure.
He wouldn’t even make the LI Ducks team.
OH! I know who you can trade him to: The Mets. They like to blow leads so He’ll fit right in. You guys think cashman is bad? How’d you like to have Omar? Oh my, he’s BAAAAD!
I think if you offer to throw in a Ham Sandwhich and a Rhinegold Omar would take hawkins, and send us, say every good play they have in their farm system.

Jarrod Washburn? I didn’t even know he was still pitching. I can’t believe the Yankees are on his no-trade list. He sucks & should be honored this team is even thinking about him. Someone answer this for me….What does his ERA in NY matter if he were pitching for the Yanks? His ERA is decent because he pitches well against the Yanks. What’s his ERA against Anaheim, Boston, Tampa, etc? That’s what’s important.

Paplebon is overrated. Heh, he’s still having nightmares of Bret Gardner.

The only word for the performance of Mussina today ———-. There is no word that surpasses incredible, unbelievable there is simply no word. As I say to my boys in tennis you don,t have to hit the ball at 200 KPH sometimes 150 KPH is enough.
Even with the slight hiccup at the end with a run scored still a very well played game from start to finish with Mo his usual self.

Aussie Bryan who at 0550 is off to work. Boy do I miss NYC.

Hawkins is in the wrong environment. He should be in a place where he can excell. I would think Home Depot would be a great place for him. Hey, and a few years, he can make assistant shift supervisor!

Can’t throw strikes with a 5 run lead….what a joke.

I can’t believe the Yanks didn’t go after Affeldt this off season. Even if he was doing as badly as Hawkins, at least he’s left handed, so you can just bring him in to face whatever big lefthander. Then the damage he can do is limited to the one guy.

What a disgrace !!! …

A beautiful pitching performance by Mike Mussina was destroyed by LaTroy Hawkins … Mussina should have been allowed to stay in the game to complete the “shutout” !!! … With that said, this was another awesome performance by Mike Mussina … A great win for the Yankees, and a great way for the Yankees to get ready for the big weekend series against the Red Sox … Go Yankees !!! … First Place in the AL EAST is in very clear sight !!! … Jimmy [27NYY]

Don’t let this 6 game winning streak fool you. This team has 3 or 4 gaping holes that have to be filled in by the end of the month if they are going to compete the last two months of the season.
If Cashman actualldoes his job and gets the right guys in here, then we can really win this whole thing. This is a good team, but not a “championship” team just yet.

KBP, what is this “kph” you speak of? I am not familiar with that unit of measure….

Yeah, but if we trade for Vidro, he has to play in the Majors. At least Igawa can sit in the minors forever. What bugs the crap out of me is that we have all these issues-right handed hitter, lefty set up, 4 or 5 starter-and the only thing they can think of doing right now is dumping a salary of a player who won’t smell the big leagues this summer?
Who cares that we won 6 straight. With that line of thinking, we won’t make it out of august still in the pennant race.
Aweful.

KPH-I think its kilobytes per hour. Right??

KPH: Is it K’s Per Hawkins? Isn’t that measured in fractions?

I say if the rockies want kennedy for fuentes, then we need to expand that deal so we can get a bat back from them too. If we trade kennedy, then he has to be part of a package to get a reliever and a right handed bat.

I think it means “Kick Paplebon’s Heiny”

kilometers per hour

And the LAST thing the Yankees need to do is trade a promising young starter for a quick fix this season. Of the 5 guys in the rotation, all but Chamberlain are probably not going to be around for 3 more years. The Yanks need all the young starting pitching they can get.

What’s a “kilometer”?

The international unit of measure. The metric system? Ring a bell?

I just thought of something after reading the informative and interesting “MLB trade rumers” website: Jarrod Washburn IS just another kei Igawa-High fast ball pitcher with no velocity. I liked the idea before but i must have been drinking or something. Thats a stupid idea. Trading for washburn I mean. not drinking. Unless its Heineken. Then thats just ludicrous.

Just trade for nady and marte and get it over with.

a kilometer measures units of liquid, silly.

Not true. That would be kiloliter. Liters are the measure of volume in the metric system. Ask the guy from Australia. He’ll back me up.

Guys it took Australia I I do love it here ) until 1964 to go to dollars in currency but we converted to metric in the eighties. KPH is kilometers per hour. To convert mph to kbp you multiply it by 5 and divide by 8, ie 100mph X 5 =800 divide by 8 = 160 kph. There you go guys a free maths and metric conversion lesson and a Yankee win all on the same day.

Aussie Bryan in down under but not quite totally in the past Australia.

Kiloliter, kilometer…who freaking cares the yanks still need Nady and Marte.

Kilometers and units of liquid surely there is such a thing as school in NYC. I did not wish to create controversy and a maths lesson. Don’t you have metric in America. I do know that you have the worst form of paper currency though, only joking. I was though in NYC for two weeks in May and if you got hammered which I did often ( Hello Jimmy ) you can get the notes mixed up, a shoeshine guy almost got a $100 tip no wonder he was smiling.

You should check out our currency all different colors for 5s,twns 50,s and 100,s.

Enough though of the lesson

Have a great day all aand indeed God Bless America

Aussie Bryan

Actually, a kilolitre is a unit of measuremnt used to measure the distance between the sun and then planet earth. a kile METRE is used to measure the distance between Paplebon’s anus and his mouth. and according to the most recent measurements taken by doktor vinnie boombatz after the all star game, the distance is very, very small.

The Yankees need Chien-Ming Wang more than anything.

The above should reas fives tens twenties fifties and hundreds.

AB

Yes enough but they do not really need Nade and Marte unless they com free or in a trade for Igawa and Hawkins combined.

yeah, our paper currency sucks cranberries. Most of our money has been up people’s noses. ask the entire Mets team from the 80′s. They had to keep an extra guy on nthe grounds crew to fix the field because Hernandez kept snorting up the first base line.

I’ll buy that.

Very funny Michael

Aussie Bryan

Just back from a trip out West with our grandsons, Did the Nat’l Pks…….. A great trip. The Yanks did great while I was gone, Now 11 games over .500 and making a move to take over the AL East lead, We now need a strong showing against the Sox, 2 of 3 or better yet, a sweep!!!
I agree get rid of Latroy, he’s done absolutely nothing for us. Paplebon is overrated??, Are you kidding, he’s a good young pitcher. I say if Washburn don’t want NY screw him, We don’t need him. But, Ichiro sounds good, He can hit and field with the best of ‘em. Posoda should get the surgery now, He is not hitting up to standards with his injury and will not be a help. Jose is doing a fine job as backup. He has a more accurate arm than Jorge. It may be a good idea to go after Salta…… From the Rangers… I don’t think Jorge is the answer at 1st, We’re better off w/ Big G or Sexton. For #5 the Yanks are looking at Lowe w/LA . Moose has been the surprise of the season, I among with some of you we,re of the mind that he was about finished, thankfully we were wrong, and are now hoping he can get 20+ wins in 2008
“GO YANKEES!”

Do you think we could get the Pirates to take Pavano, too?

I’d trade igawa and latoya for a GI Joe with a Kung Fu grip and a bag or stale donuts. If you go to a dunkin donuts right before closing (if you can find one not open 24 hrs) and you buy a donut they’ll give you a bunch for free that they were just going to throw out. I know. I got free donuts that way.
We need Nad”Y” and Marte. seriously.

J-Wash is the hot name. Molina has caught for him in the past in Anaheim.
Also, we have scouts in LA watching Lowe (expiring) and Pierre.
Fuentes is a hot for many teams. Boston has opted to pursue Marty instead.
Nady/Bay deals look to be off, asking prices too high.

On J-Wash, this deal would likely close the career of Andy Pettitte, they would likely not need another lefty in a rotation when J-Wash is scheduled to make $29M and you already have Hughes and Chamberlain and Wang penciled in to the rotation. There is also a young Latino that Cashman personally went to watch at scranton yesterday.

Release of Hawkins is coming anyday I have been assured.

ok: Hows this for overrated:::

Boston people say he’s better then Rivera.

Thats NOT overrated?

And he shares the same rectum-mouth ratio as the rest of the red sox fans. Sometimes i wonder if his face is really just his backside and he is just walking around on his hands.

Why can Paplebon jump up and down and do a Jig or the hokey pokie and people get on Joba the Hut for pumping his fist?

I say Jonathan Paplebon should stay off the DL for a season or two before he can start spouting off with his diarrhea of the mouth.

I’m just in a bad mood and whenever i do, I take it out on the red sox. OOOOH we are playing them this weekend. Good. I hope they eat bad Clam Chowder and have the runs all weekend. Freaking New England Clam Chowder….ew. Cream and Clams? Ok, fine. Why don’t I just go and get some clams on the half shell from the raw bar and DROP THEM in a glass of moo milk. thats tasty, doncha think?

Groan…..

Ok, fine. Then if Boston is going after Tex and Marte, then I should just jump off the 59th st bridge and conced this season the the bloody sox. I’m P-Oed after hearing this news. So, washburn and vidro vs Marte and Texeiereeera. Ok. Wow. I nominate Matt to be the New GM of the Yankees and Chaz as team president. I’ll handle media relations, cus yer gonna need a wiseass to do some serious non-sensical spin doctoring after the mess this season is going to turn into.

Asking price is too high….what, Ian Kennedy, Austin jackson and Ross Olendorf is too high???? Throw in a pizza or something….man!

“concede”.

What are the Sox going to do with Teixeira when Papi comes back? That’s not going to happen.

Because Boston people say Pap is better, Doesn’t make it so.
Rivera is our guy and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Who gives a Damn what they think?
Good that you have someone to take your anger out on.
“GO YANKEES!”

I hear any acquisition of Texiera could lead to Giambi being the DH and Sexson being reduced to a late inning replacement. Then there is Posada and Matsui.

We not really pursuing Texiera like Washburn, we are waiting to see what ATL does.

Hey on Boston, they plan on moving or benching Youkallis not Papi.

Right, but the Boston brass will get strung up for benching a fan favorite who is in the middle of a career year.

Youk’s OPS is better than Teixeira’s right now .937 to .887.

Who cares. Fenway is a joke and its ugly and Boston isn’t going anywhere this year. Niether is anyone else, for that matter. The The ANgLes look really good and it might be their year.

If the yanks can get 2/3 this weekend it would really make a big difference in the season. They only took 2/4 in the last meeting, so this would be a great chance to get an extra game….plus if they sweep…no-mastusucka

OK. Let’s get back to TODAYS GAME! Yes, we’ve won 6 in a row so I’m not excited. 11 games over isn’t nothing but I dont want to be 8 games over by sunday DAMMIT!!!

What I DO want to talk about is…. Wait for it…..

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE! YET ANOTHER SPECTACULAR START by a pitcher who is quickly making his case for HOF once he’s done. I’m doing rain dances for his health and well being. With just under half the season left, he only needs 7 more. Come on Moose, 7. I KNOW you can do it. I want to be able to tell people I got to see Moose pitch IN PERSON the season he got that elusive 20th win. I dont know if I might want it worse than he does. Oh, another “stat” in Moose’s favor? Only the 3rd pitcher in history to record 20 or more starts in 17 or more consecutive seasons. Come on Moose!!! 263 on the way to 270!!!

Speaking of trade rumors, Humberto for Sanchez? Since when?

michaeljmacaluso@aol.com
laa eats horse manuer

Lost ANgLes of anaheim! ha!

I was being “sacrcastic”.

Humerto Sanchez??what about him???

Rivera is one of the best to EVER throw a baseball 60′ 6″. You will find no one, not even the jaded dorks at ESPN or NESN who will disagree. He is a first ballot HOF’er who will be 2nd all time in saves (I’m still holding out hope that Hoff hangs it up next week!) with nearly every MLB pitching honor in his trophy case and a fist full of WS rings to pad his resume.
Poll ANY ML manager and say, if, right now, you could have ANY current closer on your team, who’d you pick? I’ll give even odds that Mo’s name will come up 98% of the time. Sure K-Rod and Paplebum may have better records but with a game on the line, there is none better, ever, who does what Mo does.
I’ll be able to tell my grandchildren about him and Baseball will talk of him in the same breath and with the same reverence as the elite who have played the game.

Let’s see how K-Rod and Paplebum are doing in 15 years…….

ooops… .I mean Humberto for Fuentes????

Boston I don’t suspect is really interested in Tex, they just want to appear to be.

Doesn’t really matter anyway. I’ve not been too found of Washburn but he’s managed to do well against us… go figure? He has a no-trade to the Yanks? Bah, who cares if he doesn’t like us?

Papsmear? As I said already… he ain’t even the beginning of a pimple on the great Mariano Rivera’s *** yet, so yes he’s over-rated, talented yes, but he hasn’t had time to level off either.

This is the best sweep we’ve had all year! We now move into the WC soley do we not?

Texiera will end the careers of Giambi and possibly Posada in pinstripes. I don’t see it. Maybe they do it and then add Pudge when he’s waived. Unlikely, they have an agreement with Giambi $5M buyout + $5 salary.

ooops… .I mean Humberto for Fuentes????

By rcngolf99@yahoo.com on July 23, 2008 5:30 PM

They want Kennadia. Probably in additional player, perhaps Sanchez.

I know we are looking at Lowe and Washburn, I’d prefer Eddy Volquez.

Despite my clammering for a speedy outfielder like Pierre, I’d rather had Upton but that will never happen.

I was kidding about the “kilometer” stuff. It’s just amusing to me when people from other countries try and explain something by unit of measure. You have to sit and calculate in your head to get it back to “Standard” measurements. That’s one more reason to LOVE America. Everyone else uses the metric system, yet we still call our system “Standard”. It’s good to be the King.

Yanks have scouts following Dodgers
The New York Yankees have had scout Rick Williams following the Los Angeles Dodgers over the past few days, George A. King of the New York Post writes.

The Dodgers will be entertaining offers for versatile outfielder Juan Pierre and righthander Derek Lowe, who will be a free agent after this season.

New York is reportedly still interested in the Colorado Rockies Brian Fuentes but the consensus is that Colorado is asking for too much in return.

Bryan Hoch, what about the error charged to Giambi the other night on a poor throw by the pitcher?

Or rather day, it was the tbs game.

Seattle chocked in the 11th.

I think Ichiro has stopped caring he just lifts pitches and hopes for the best, alot of flyballs.

I will not endorse two starting arms for one reliver. Non-sense
