All good after all
Guess who’s back in the lineup? Johnny Damon, leading off and playing left field. It seems those thoughts about the disabled list were a little bit overdramatic. While Damon’s gingerly testing himself, it looks more and more likely that Hideki Matsui will be an observer for this weekend’s Subway Series.
Matsui may not be able to DH in the first game of the split doubleheader tomorrow and if that’s the case, the Yankees need to seriously consider disabling Matsui retroactively. Then again, the DH is back in play on Monday for good, putting this Interleague stretch behind the Bombers.
Meanwhile, how about this? The Yankees are staying in downtown Pittsburgh and are apparently sharing their hotel with a furry convention — that is, grown men and women who dress up and act like animals. Here’s the official Web site — Anthrocon 2008: “It’s a Jungle Out There!”
You cannot make this up.
Most of the players were a little taken aback – Alex Rodriguez was telling Derek Jeter how he got caught in an elevator with nine hissing cats, and thought they might start scratching him — but Jason Giambi absolutely loved it. Big shocker there. If the Yankees didn’t have to get out of town tonight, you get the feeling the Big G would hang out for another night and join the fun.
“Those people are awesome,” he said. “Awesome.”

Giambi fits right in with his upper lip fur!
Shawn Chacon just got released on waivers.. maybe it’ll be a trend that the Yankees pick him up (again) just like they picked up Sidney Ponson (again)..
Chacon – like Ponson – got released because of behavior/personal relations problems

LMAO. Maybe he’ll choke Cashman for us!?
Robert,
Refer to the last blog for my answer to your vote question.
Leave it to Giambi to think that total weirdos are “awesome”. No offense to any bloggers that like to dress up like racoons and rub against stuff and ………..
When the Yankees were in Baltimore one year, there was a Japanese anime convention. It was like Halloween in the middle of the baseball season as everyone was dressed up like cartoons. That was something, but I think Pittsburgh wins the battle of the offbeat.
hey, Shawn Chacon did a great job for the Yankees in 2005 before he got hurt.. all you need is to hold the line.. i think Chacon would be great as a short-term and fairly inexpensive starter for this year
Chacon has a 5.00 era this year. And the operative part of that opening question was “did…….in 2005″. Look at the debacle he was in 2006, 2007, 2008, and the fact that he’s an a-hole answer your question on whether we should pick him up or not. I say sign him ONLY if he will choke Cashman next.
and tell me, which pitcher out of out of the farm/rehabilitation would you take over Chacon? Igawa? Karstens? Pavano?
Grown men that dress and act like animals? Which NFL team was it?
I missed Damon in leadoff.
i feel like I’m watching batting practice right now.
Would Chacon be better than Hawkins in the pen? Would’nt take much!
Chaz,
I can’t find it can you repost?
it’s just weird that two former Yankee pitchers were both released in the same week under almost the same circumstances.. hey, if they picked up Ponson, then maybe they’d pick up Chacon too
Damn it! C’mon Moose! They gave you a 3 run lead!
Robert, It didn’t post. I won’t tell you guys who my vote for 2B was, because I like you guys, and don’t want you to think less of me!
What about those of us that don’t think to highly of you anyways? It better have been Cano. Or at least Kinsler. Good lord not Pedoria!!
you better have not voted for pedroia. No yankee fan should vote for any redsox player, no matter if he’s hitting .400; especially if the all star game is in our ball park. The last thing we need is to have another red sox player in our stadium. They already have 4 or 5 making it (ortiz, ramirez, youkilis, maybe varitek, and maybe pedroia).
Here’s a good question:
Are you going to cheer or boo when a red sox player comes up?
As long as it’s not Pedroia…of course I’ll cheer. It’s Nl vs Al and I want to kick some Nl butt after what happened with Wang (yeah, I still blame them for it).
just great, they’re either gonna postpone this game or the Yankees will have to play late into the night and then have to fly to NY and get up early for the first game of a double-header against the Mets
Game just cancelled and rescheduled for July 11
