6/6 – Yankees vs. Royals

Darrell Rasner and Kyle Davies face off under the lights here in the Bronx. Some news as LaTroy Hawkins’ three-game suspension was upheld by MLB – he’s unavailable starting tonight.

The Yankees have placed Chris Britton on the 15-day disabled list with a rib strain and have recalled Dan Giese, who was sent out on Wednesday to make room for Jorge Posada.

Posada, by the way, is not catching tonight but the Yankees plan to have him behind the plate on Saturday and Sunday.

Forget Hall, he strikes out way to much, and has only one really good season that being in ’06. Hasn’t really shown he can be a consistent hitter.

Getting Bonds would be the most idiotic move this team could make, one sure to get Crashman fired if it happened. No Bonds wouldn’t have any immediate impact on this lineup, he’s been out of baseball how long. He’s old, a wreck, can’t be relied, another roidhead and has way too much negative baggage. He could barely play a full half season let alone one full season. So getting Bonds would be the dumbest move this team could make.

They do not want and they do not need Barry Bonds. I think the Yankees need to power down and get some speedy guys who can get on base and change the game.

Man, Rasner really pitched a gutty game…hate to see that type of effort go in the loss column…definitely like the idea of Girardi not hewing to overblown pitch count theory by letting the pitcher carry the team deep into the game. Again, Risp is killing the Yanks. Though Matsui and Rodriguez having batting averages near or over .300 they still have not delivered the clutch blows that Manny, Lowell, and Ortiz deliver regularly. The Yanks are in dire need of a right hand power hitter and additional power left hand hitter to protect Rodriguez. Opposing managers donot have the same fear of Rodriguez delivering the clutch blow (see left hander Mahay pitch to Rodriguez). No way that K.C. would have a let lefty reliever pitch to Manny in the same situation. Yanks should trade some of the excess minor league pitching to Milwaukee for Billy Hall who is chaffing under a platoon system and has asked to be traded. Hall hits for power from the right side and plays a good third base, left field and center field…could be at least two years before yanks top outfield prospects, Tabata and Austin Jackson are ready to play in the bigs and Abreu, Damon, & Matsui lack range and/or throwing arms and will not be back next year. Also, Cashman needs to sign Barry Bonds, pronto, for DH…Bonds will have an immediate impact on our lethargic bats. By hitting Bonds third or sandwiching him between Rodriguez and Giambi will give protection to both and they will see more “hitters” pitches. Now our line up matches better with the powerful Red Sox line up. Forgot about the asinine steriods inuendo; none of us was there; This is America, not Russia or China, you are innocent until proven guilty, not vice versa. If the Feds had anything they would have got him years ago…they have nothing to hang their hats on….The Red Sox have made feelers to Bond’s Agent…

lf Damon/Matsui (dh/rf/Lf)
ss Jeter
DH Bonds
3b Rodriguez
1b Giambi
c Posada
2b Cano
cf Cabrera
rf Abreu/Hall

Yeah, too bad they wasted that great outing, but has anyone else noticed how long Girardi’s been leaving his pitchers in? He doesn’t seem to care about the “magic 100 pitch” mark and instead seems to gauge when a pitcher is pitching effectively. I mean Rasner already had over 100 pitchers at the end of the 7th inning, but Girardi threw him out there for the 8th. That was really great managing. It’s just too bad the Yankees couldn’t scratch out a couple more runs.

the yankees should have that game the unpire blow the call bad break thay are getting to be a joke with all the calls this season so for not just with fair or foul homeruns with the tie goes to the runner the give me doubble plays as in the sesond base man does not even step on the base that kind of stuff!!!! well the yankees now have to take the next 3 and come out swinging for the seats and put k.c. back in it’s place!!!! And once again great pitching no hitting bats got cold!!!!! why the hell did george did not start the game tonight he just came back and you sit him? joe joe joe you have to shake it up in there get this team to wake up and play every game like it is the last!!!! well on a high note looks like cano is starting to get back to old school cano again great to see!!!!!!!! cashman better make somebig moves for pitching if he wants to keep his job and kevin long better do his job as well or he is next!!!!!!

Absolutely splendid performance by Rasner indicating another reason why he belongs in the rotation. It is to bad this shallow team cannot manufacture runs.

It is a shame considering that they could not continue what they had going. And the home plate umpire should get a pair of glasses that was an awful call. It seems to me that umpires have gotten worse over the past few years.

A shame the Yankees couldn’t manage to support Raz’.
