6/4 – Yankees vs. Blue Jays

We’re back under the lights here in the Bronx, where the only ‘Rules’ for Mike Mussina are to go as deep as possible and save the bullpen after last night’s Joba Chamberlain experiment went awry. I couldn’t help but notice that C.B. Bucknor is calling the balls and strikes tonight. Just a hunch, but that may not help Mussina’s cause.

Jorge Posada is back with the Yankees and ready to try catching on Thursday. They’ll keep Chad Moeller and Jose Molina at least until Posada can prove that he won’t suffer a repeat of April 27, when he had to ask out of a start at Cleveland and force Molina into duty 12 minutes before game time. Dan Giese’s short stay in New York is over after 3 2/3 innings and one tour of Yankee Stadium, but chances are he’ll be back on the shuttle at some point.

Jason Giambi is on the bench with a sore left foot. He was hit by a 78 mph Roy Halladay curveball in the sixth inning last night, but the Yankees think he’s available as a pinch-hitter. Spent some time chatting with Brian Bruney tonight — he’s been throwing off a chair and believes he may be cleared to begin soft tossing tomorrow. If so, he thinks late July isn’t out of the question.

Bryan destroys Mark Feinsand. Feinsand didn’t post regular and he got talked down to people when he did the mailbag.

Bryan, I wouldn’t sweat that loser. I have gone around to other beat writer blogs, and yours is by far the most comprehensive. Not only that, but I would guess that we post more than any other beat writer blog.

Let’s rate the team on a case-by-case basis:

Bench: F
Rotation: B+
Bullpen: C
Lineup: A-
Manager: B
GM: Oh God… D
Organization: B

We need to get rid of that F

Bring that B up to an A ( Sabathia, Sheets? )

That C has to be a B at least… at leeeaast a B

GM has to go

Organization gets better by making all those grades go up.

Right now, we’re a wild card team. AT BEST.

I’d like to see them ” keep it up” or ” stay consistent” or ” win more than you lose” or, to put it in the right terms ” play like they did today… EVERYDAY or at least 7 out of 10 times. Unfortunately, I don’t think this team can do that for some reason. When we pitch we don’t hit and when we hit we don’t pitch. That’s been the story all season up to this point. I’m not excited about the win… great! We won, but I’m thinking about how they’re going to do tommorow and over the course of this whole month and it all looks the same to me. A couple of games where we great baseball ( like this one ) and some where we have bite our nails out to win and the ones where this poorly- put- together team is beaten miserably ( we have a lot of these ).

The point is: we’ll see if they can keep this up.

bpark/sentinel/keyswahili,

I’ll dap Moose when you admit you’re sentinel, and keyswahili. HA! HA!

I must say that I was one of those who badmouthed Moose, But he has been our most consistent pitcher. (Thank GOD for that) Now we need Wang to get back to pitching like he has in past seasons.. Still no POWER….

Moose is agressive tonight throwing strikes not nibbling as you say. He has 5 strikeouts tonight so far, thankfully he won’t face Manny Ramirez who tortures Moose for going after him.

Mattress Susuki needs to continue to dap Moose at win #9

No need for that water bottle throwing now…good job Betemit.

Start the runner+ single (runner goes to third)+single = Run. Small Ball Baby!!!

Maybe Cano played better when he was poor. Before his contract extension he was hitting .300. That was back when he had something to prove to the management on what type of player he was and how much he was worth. Now that he knows he’s getting about 20,000,000 which isn’t a lot for a player but it’s enough for a guy his age…. he’s not hitting well. He got a whiff at a lot of money and takes a whiff at every pitch that comes his way in return. Fair deal Robbie!!!

I’m sick of seeing Betemit’s busted face!! I just hid the remote so I don’t throw it at my T.V—the urge is irresistible…I might throw the water bottle I’m holding but we’ll give him one more at bat before I take drastic measures.

Don’t forget the Yanks needed a 3B at the time.

Matt,

Boston was sending Ramirez to Texas. And where is Sorias?Cashman outsmarted Epstein?

And I said Cashman’s record is the envy of 28 GMs and owners. Boston is the 29th.

Worked out well for Boston but unlike us, they were obviously not trying to add to their payroll.

Bryan, don’t mind Mattress Susuki, he doesn’t have the balls to post this message under his main name, he had to use an alias.

I was getting ready to chastize them for giving Giambi another night off in favor of Betemit but I see he’s injured.

Mussina out of a shaky first with the DP ball.

Oh God, Bruney thinks he’s coming back. Although he’s been better, he was the surrender guy last year and the year before, only Henn was worse.

Pettitte to the pen? I’d like to think he can pull a Leiter if CC is acquired and Hughes comes back strong.

Holding up the AL East again… I was just thinking, can’t our pitcher get a 1 2 3 1st inning. they have to give us fits every game. Thank GOD for the DP… Where the H***L is our power?? We need to start banging the ball again, JD is really starting to hit, We need Jeter to start..
