Bryan, any thoughts on Latrell Hawkins future with the club, will he complete his contract?

Excuse me LaTroy I mean.

I hope Viz is doing well. I wanted to retained him at 2 years 4M/

Is Leiter working out? We need a lefty out the pen.

Please don’t tell me Karstens is coming up.

Man I wished I lived closer! This sounds like a BLAST!!! I would imagine that the team would have to announce soon who’s taking IPKei’s spot on the roster for him to be active tonight.

You know what makes me wonder? We, as a blogging community, should serve as a relatively accurate sample of the Yankee fanbase as a whole, right? So, if the overwhelming majority of us think that Brian Cashman is an idiot, then that means there are literally MILLIONS of people that think Cashman is an idiot, right? So, why in the blue hell does this idiot still have a job? Shouldn’t our dissatisfaction of the product we are being sold have trickled its way to the Steinbrenners by now? Cashman is nothing more than a pencil pushing, blackberry using, NERD. Just look at him! He makes Poindexter look like Antonio Banderas! http://partmule.com/blog16/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/brian-cashman.jpg That SOB had better enjoy that WS ring, because Bob Watson worked his butt off so that Cash could have it!

It doesn’t matter who the Yanks bring up, he’ll still suck. Are Hughes & Kennedy pu$$ies? They must kick it with Pavano and get bit by the same bug. Last season I predicted the Yanks to finish 3rd behind the Bloody Tampons & the Gay-Jays. This is pathetic!!! Gut this team and play with scrubs. I’d bring up the whole Scranton team. It’s working for Tampa.

I also said they’d never see another world series unless they strenghtened the bullpen and bench. It looks like Girardi will be wearing #27 for a long time. It’s funny how old trends come back. Right now it’s the 1980′s in N.Y. I’m going to go sport my flourescent orange Yankees hat.

chaz,

No professional sports organization in their right mind is going to let the fan base dictate who they have in the front office or in the field. AFter all we are the brainless schmucks who spen their hard earned money day after day, week after week spending our hard earned money on garbage this organization has put together, why the heck would they care about what we think? IF they wanted they could just go ahead and re-sign Crashman regardless of how poorly this team does.

BTW if this team does that, I may have to seriously rethink my commitment to the Yanks as a lifelong Yankee fan. That’s saying a lot since I’m extremely loyal to my sports teams, I’m no fair weather fan by any stretch.

I am really scared right now as a Yankee fan. I have been loyal to this club since I became interested in the sport (1985, thanks to Don Mattingly), and this is the first time in my life that I am actually apprehensive about donning my Yankees’ gear. Steroids and various other scandals, an idiot GM, a windbag (Hank) in the front office, and a manager that makes questionable decisions have led this team down a path that could take YEARS from which to recover. Decisions need to be made, and made quickly. If I see Cashman getting re-upped, I too will seriously question whether or not I continue to remain loyal to a team that has become part of my identity, part of what makes ME…ME. That may be pathetic to some, but the Yankees are a huge part of my life, and they have become a member of my family.

Sabithia for Kennadia and Abreu’s expiring contract, I’ll do it.

Sabithia and others for Cano I won’t do it.

BP,
Vizcaino is on the DL and has not pitched since 4/3.
His line is:
G-2
IP-1.1
ERA-27.00
H-5
R-4
ER-4
HR-0
BB-3
SO-1

Chaz and Matt,

As a survivor of the CBS years (1965-1973) let me say we may be down since 2004 we are a long way from living on the bottom. If your loyalty is in question now it could be worse.

Viz made a milehigh mistake. I bet Hawkins Colorado ERA was similar. Colorado’s bullpen has been great this year.

Matt Susuked a black Shelley Duncan for breakfast after saying a 170 batting average is production.

I spent a minute looking at the numbers (something Cashman and Girardi don’t do), and let’s just look at what we have learned so far this year…..
The starting lineup:
1. Abreu .292/7/34 – he’s getting his job done
2. Cano .223/4/19 – while it looks like the “slump” may be over, he still chases bad pitches early in the count.
3. Damon .280/6/23/7 SB’s – Not bad, but for what we expected, NOT good either.
4. Jeter .286/2/24 – Passable, but he needs to step up his play.
5. Matsui .326/6/24 – On his way to a career year. Thank you, Godzilla, for carrying this team so far.
6. Cabrera .249/6/21 – started off on the right foot, but his batting average is slowly working it’s way to Mendoza status.
7. Giambi .235/10/25 – The jacks are there, the BB’s are there, the batting average……..isn’t.
8. A-Rod .286/7/17 – Ever since he’s come back we’ve been scoring more runs. SO….. I guess THIS is why we can no longer pitch?
9. Posada .302/1/11 – He was raking when he was here, so I hope he can produce at the same level when he gets back. ANYTHING to keep Molina out of the lineup.
The “bench”:
1. Molina .206/0/5 – We all know he’s a backup, but his bat is literally NON-existant. So much for hitting .300 off the bench like last year…….LOSER.
2. Ensburg .203/1/4 – THIS is the same guy who batted cleanup for the Astros in ’05? We have GOT to have someone in AAA who can manage better than this has-been.
3. Moeller .265/1/8 – In less than half of the chances, he has DOUBLED Molina’s numbers. I guess that’s a good reason to leave him out of the lineup.
4. Gonzalez .214/0/1- While I enjoyed his glove work, and I could see his potential, he obviously cannot handle a big league pitcher yet.
5. Betamit .290/1/3 – 31 at bats, bpark, so don’t give me any crap about this scrub being able to hit. 2 stints on the DL for a bench player? Is he made of glass, or is he just FAT and out of shape?
The rotation:
1. Wang 3.82/6-2/73.0 – Thank you, Wanger, consistent as always. I’ll take it.
2. Pettite 4.27/4-5/59.0 – Welcome to ’07 Clemens v2.0. THIS is what a 20 million dollar pitcher delivers? I could put up these numbers.
3. Moose 4.39/7-4/55.1 – Moose just might win 15 games this year if he can keep this up. For an old man, he’s doing far more than almost any of us expected.
4. IPK 7.41/0-3/37.2 – AND on the DL! This clown is suited for mop-up work in late inning blow-outs until further notice. He may be too much for AAA, but he’s a BP pitcher to every big league team he’s faced.
5. Rasner 1.80/3-1/25- What a delight he has turned out to be, too bad he’ll get sent down the minute Hughes shows back up REGARDLESS of his record.
6. Hughes 9.00/0-4/22.0 – AND on the DL! While I am not pushing the panic button on his injuries in 07 AND 08, and his lackluster (to be kind) numbers; I have my finger on the button, and my XO has the authentication code.
7. Igawa 18.00/0-1/3.0 – Thanks for playing, and may you NEVER get another chance as a Yankee starter, you lump of crap!
The bullpen:
1. Ohlendorf 6.37 in 16 games – He’s thrown more innings than any other reliever, yet has the second highest ERA. WHY does Girardi insist on running him out there?
2. Hawkins 6.75 in 22 games – He’s tied for 1st on the team in appearances, yet has the HIGHEST ERA. Why does Girardi insist on running him out there?
3. Farnsworth 4.24 in 22 games – All I hear from the Yankees is how well he is pitching. An ERA over 4 is GOOD for a setup man? What? He still is as crappy as ever.
4. Joba 2.42 in 19 games – He’s a gamer, and 1 of the few bright spots we have had the pleasure of seeing. I can’t wait to see him as a starter.
5. Rivera 0.41 in 20 appearances with 12 saves – Did anyone tell Rivera that he’s 39? Because he’s pitching better than ever. What a stud!
6. Ramirez 0.00 in 12 games – 12 games and 0 earned runs……Nice job, kid! Keep it up!
7. Abalaejo 3.95 in 7 games – He had one bad outing and was sent down. Why is it different for LaTurd and Ohlendork?
8. Bruney 1.59 in 9 games – Too bad he got hurt, we may have had an 8th inning guy right here.
9. Veras 4.50 in 9 games – Was that a 95 mph heater? Cuz you put it over the middle and that guy hit it a looooooooong way! You might mix in some work to the corners, loser.
10. Traber 4.50 in 11 games – How can you be the ONLY lefty on the 25 man and still get sent down? I know! SUCK like Billy Traber!
11. Britton 1.93 in 2 games – I would have sent him down too. I mean, an ERA under 2 is NO excuse for getting another chance…..

With a decision due soon on Jason Lane, I would like to see Shelly Duncan and Lane swap places.

Chaz,
Lane leads SWB with 10 HR and 33 RBI though batting only .253.

Out of the 33 players I profiled above, I give 19 a passing grade or better. Of those 19, 2 are on the DL (Bruney and Posada), 2 are in AAA (Britton and Abaladejo), 2 are just coming out of prolonged slumps (Giambi and Cano), 1 just came off the DL (A-Rod), and 1 we only see around once per week (Moeller). So, we have 8 guys that we haven’t or won’t been/be able to count on this season. That leaves 11 out of 33 that are playing like Yankees. That is HORRIBLE!!!!

Just another note on pitching, I am sure everyone saw that Shawn Chacon, now with the Astros, pitched 7 innings last nite, struckout 8 and won his second game vs. the Cards. Chacon is now 2-0 with a 3.75 ERA. He has been the Astros most consistent pitcher. Not that I am kicking Crashman again but this is yet another example of this BOZO(Crashman) NOT knowing a thing about what wins championships. If the Hanker and Hal do anything this year get rid of Crashman.

Huh, I left out Duncan: .164/1/6 – How could I have forgotten this poop stain? Not only is he a terrible hitter, but he’s easily THE ugliest human being ever conceived. He’s got a face only a mother could love.

Does Torrez have anything left in that arm? The Yankees could use his GUTS!!!!!

Robert, if you would like to see Lane in for Duncan, I don’t have a problem with that. Duncan is the guy at the end of the bench anyway. It’s not like swapping them could do any harm. If you ask me, we should call up Abaladejo and Britton, send down Veras, and DFA Hawkins. Now that IPK is on the DL, we should call up the AAA starter that is doing the best (someone fill me in on who that would be), and cross our fingers. With any luck we can get something going until we get Chamberlain in the mix. If Joba pitches well, we have 5 starters that can win games. With Hughes coming back, maybe we can use him in a long relief role, or use him to spot start for Rasner, Moose, and Joba. That SHOULD settle our rotation down. But our bullpen……….?

A “winning” staff:
ROTATION –
Wang
Pettite
Moose
Chamberlain
Rasner
SPOT STARTER LONG RELIEF -
Hughes – unless he starts kicking butt, then we actually have a “good” tough decision to make
BULLPEN –
Britton
Abaladejo
Ramirez
Farnsworthless
Dan Giese
CLOSER –
Rivera

Talk about a shaky bullpen, but these are the guys that are performing the best right now.

Why did we get Ben Brousard? Like we need another left handed hitter…….

I guess Abaladejo is on the DL indefinitely, my bad. I guess we’ll have to put some other scrub in the bullpen.

could some of you folks (just some of you) stop whining pls? last night was a heartbreaking loss, and 6 (now 6.5) games behind is bad.. BUT all things considered i don’t think it’s as dire as some of you make it out to be.. after everything from Hughes/Kennedy not pitching up to par and Jorge and ARod being on the DL to Cano’s ice-cold bat, the Yankees could be much further behind

does anybody remember last year? 14.5 games behind? if the Yankees had only been 6.5 games behind last year at this time, then i think fans would have been ecstatic

you all should know the Yankees usually start out slowly and then are en fuego after the all-star break

so just chill people.. it’s gonna be alright

Chaz: we got Ben because we are IDIOTS run by a GM who is an IDIOT. Like I have posted before Crashman ought to be in politics, he’s a total MORON and would fit right in and would more than likely get elected over and over.

pride I appreciate your remarks but I think a lot of the fans who blog on here have seen this stuff over and over and over again. Frankly I for one am tired of the same old problems with this team. I mean how many years are the bloggers and Yankee fans going to discuss PITCHING over and over again. It’s a different year but it’s the same song.

Well said, travers. I was the head cheer-leader last season, and was the one saying the same things that pride is saying. Frankly, I am sick of watching the Yankes sputter and stumble out of the gate, and scramble to catch-up after the break. What happened to us last year after that awesome come back? Oh yeah, we lost in the first round of the playoffs……….AGAIN!

Nice 12 pitch inning for Guthrie. We’re on our way!

Chaz, don’t forget Duncan thinks he is black. If he could be himself, he might hit better.

I don’t see the need for Betemit anymore either.

The Abreu + Kennadia deal is a must. Abreu’s contract is up and Cleveland wants him.

Only a cokehead would actually let Bruney bridge to Mo. Numbers are good this year but the season had just begun and he had already begun to show signs up his past horrific performances and wildness.

Oh Ian hurry back please. Getting zero hits or showing zero patience in the first half of the innning is just not the same without your presense…

Is that Abreu + IPK for CC? No way. There will be few contenders for his pricey contract, so why should the Yanks be ransomed – we’d be doing them a massive favour giving them more than the draft pick they would get otherwise

CC? He rocks but as age grows…so does weight. He won’t fit on the mound eventually…he’ll be as round as it.

What is wrong with Pettitte this year. Righties are killing him, usually his cutter takes care of them

And another leadoff double with nadda, nathan, nache, nix, nothing to show for it.

I would at least give them the nod if they tried to do the basics and failed, but when you don’t even exhibit that you’re willing to do that… tsk tsk tsk.

Optimism is one thing folks, reality is what you’re seeing. After awhile you have to accept reality as being what it is despite the best optimism you possibly have.

Reality is, we have sketchy pitching at best, we might be able to compete in the NL Central or West but reality is we’re in the AL East! Reality is, we are a gapper or HR happy club. Hits are too passe’ for us, bunts? Oh jeez if I have to but I could’a swore that was prohibited in my contract… We play poorly, that’s reality. We play this way, not with the same types of people other clubs have, but with the highest payroll in the Bigs, and it’s NOT working. So, when does the reality set in for real? When does the front office say, jeez, even the Pirates/Padres make us look bad, ya think we’re really doing things ‘right’?? For crying out loud, the D-Rays are kickin it, with what 1/8 of our payroll or so?

Uh uh… enjoy the game… err Loss. I’ll keep watching, fan that I am, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be happy or accepting of crap. If it looks like it, smells like, feels like it, well, it is!

Oh BTW, did anyone see the story about MLB threatening litigation for Little League teams?! Now that’s smart MLB, you’re already seeing blacks abandoning the sport for various reasons and now you’re going to alienate the rest of the kids… so say hello to your next generation of paychecks… oh wait, you’re telling them to piss-off and be a Football fan ’cause you’ve got enough Baseball fans already, I gotcha… ;)

Thanks Jason…

Absolutely killing it recently. If he keeps up this momentum, JG’s going to have an awesome season

Man Jeter has got to be hurting. Striking out again with a guy on 3rd. He needs a day off.

No one on base for Giambi again

Chaz your nuts, Molina is way better than Moeller.

Is that Abreu + IPK for CC? No way. There will be few contenders for his pricey contract, so why should the Yanks be ransomed – we’d be doing them a massive favour giving them more than the draft pick they would get otherwise

By candyrunts@hotmail.com on May 28, 2008 7:48 PM

Ransomed? Boston will no doubt be involved. Hank is willing to pay his contract as a free agent, you basically giving up Kennedy because Abreu won’t be re-signed. CC, Pettitte, Wang, Moose, Hughes with Chamberlain back in the pen for the playoffs smells like WS #27

You may not have a choice, Matt. We need a starter who can get it done more than a setup man. It may be a win/win in the case of Joba’s role, but we need him to dominate as a starter far more. That said, we have a GM that won’t make an intelligent move to get the setup man we need. After all, he could have signed at least 2 different setup type guys in the off-season (Linebrink, Cordero [I'm sure he loves closing for the Reds]), and he chose to rely on his boys Farnsworthless and LaTurd. Looks like we get Farny in the 8th. Have fun watching him get whiplash. I’m not content with his 4.25 ERA either.

The guy to get was Pierceval, he was lights out this year last time I checked. Btw, Matt Susuki is still sucking Duncan.

http://msn.foxsports.com/other/wcStory?contentId=8118850#story=8184140

Indians want Abreu from us and a couple more pitching prospects would sweeten the deal. I doubt it would be Hughes or Kennedy, who ahve horrible seasons and are coming off the DL. So no Bpark, we’re stcuk with ” what could be” from these two.

Abreu and wo top tier prospects for Sabathia? I’d do it.

Cano is not a slugger-type player the Os seek and plays second base, where Asdrbal Cabrera plays ( has better plate discipline than Cano ). Melky Cabrera may be another possibility since he plays OF, but has sub-par power.

I’d do it if they came knocking for Abreu. Cano and Cabrera are keepers.

How do we know Abreu won’t be resigned? Who’s going to patrol LF next year then? Gardner doesn’t seem that viable an option yet

If we let Boston give them back a crispy puff, we’d be looking at Wang, Chamberlain, Hughes, Rasner and an unknown starter next year. That won’t scare anyone as much as CC in the lineup.

bpark, I mean bettypoopy, I mean sentinel still has a huge mancrush on Betapuke and Clemens. Bettypoopy still shows it by sucking on Clemens’s Betapuke, aNd sucks on Betapuke’s Clemens. All three are card carrying members of NAMBLA ( North American Man Boy Love Association ).

By candyrunts@hotmail.com on May 28, 2008 8:42 PM

Abreu won’t be looking for a 1 year deal like his option we picked up, he will be looking for a 3 year deal which at his age he won’t get here. We may find a free agent to play RF.

bettypoopy loves those no talents like his boyfriend Betapuke so he can show them how to suck!!

According to MLBTR, pitchers who r on the trade block:

Paul Byrd, Jeremy Sowers, Derek Lowe, Rich Harden, Odalis Perez, Brett Tomko, Jarrod Washburn, Zach Duke, Vicente Padilla, and Kevin Millwood. Byrd, Lowe, Perez, and Tomko will be free agents after the season. Sowers and Duke are the kids. Harden is the oft-injured ace. Washburn, Padilla, and Millwood bring burdensome contracts.

I’d pursue Harden, especially now that he’s healthy and dominated the Red Sox his last outing. Whether or nothe stays healthy is the deal breaking variable. If Joba Chamberlain struggles as a starter and is slotted back to Hold role, he could be our number 5 guy or vice versa.

Chamberlain could be our number 5 guy according to Yankees.com now that Kennedy has been injured.

That’s it from me.

Later.

By matt_saiki@yahoo.com on May 28, 2008 8:44 PM

What does this blasphemy have to do with baseball? Are you gonna ride the Trenton bus as Duncan’s husband?

sentinel doesn’t know who it will take to get Sabathia, he doesn’t even know the difference between Clemens’s Betapuke, and Betapuke’s Clemens.

Matt Susuki has finally realised he is latent homosexual or maybe he always knew it and is just now understanding it.

BD, none of those pitchers excite me.

No but we all know you’re riding Clemens as his boyfriend to Houston!!

Clemens is the only pitcher that excites sentinel, if you know what I mean BDSouth!!

Jeremy Sowers ( lefty ) and Zach Duke ( lefty ) are two young interesting starters with great stuff. They’re not starting now because both teams ( Idians and Pirates ) have pitching surplus. All depends on how the Indians feel about C.C. right now and how the what the Pirates would be looking for in return.

I’d expect Cashman to try and go after some idiot like Padilla or Millwood who both are ” vets”, carry baggage, can’t pitch consistently and have loong contracts. The Cash_a_s_s specialty.

BPark, Coco Crisp ( no power )is not appealing to the Indians, but Manny Ramirez is. A Cleveland re-up? I don’t know, but based on his performance, the Red Sox may move him while he has value. Abreu seems a btter fit though ( faster, has power, left-handed ).

Hey, I don’t anything to do with the Matt Suzuki and Betapuke’s Lover feud.

BDSouth,

I think you mean bettypoopy.

I like Paul Maholm better than Duke though. Just speculation on my part. I forget about the great talent we have in the minors and our two injured starters.

I wouldn’t want Harden on this team for anything more as asetup man or closer. Someone as injury-prone as Harden may only end up like a Pavano, but then again Harden would have to agree to that role.

The Chamb comes on and dominates. How about about Mo take the day off. Unkess he struggles, he’s not going 45 pitches in two innings.

jhtravers,

I don’t want Chacon 1000 miles near this team. HE got ripped before being traded to Pittsburgh, I believe his ERA was around 7.00 when he was traded. So that deal was a no-brainer. He’s been better in the NL, but that’s not surprising since he is more of a NL pitcher.

BDSouth,

I’m not sure about Duke and Maholm, Pirates pitchers have tended to flame out during the peek of their careers. Both Maholm, and Duke are getting ripped this season.

What about Ben Sheets? Have the Brewers extended him? Not that he’s the best fit with his injury tendencies but he has to be considered

Candyrunts, unlike Mark Shapiro ( who’s looking for a slugger now ) the Brewers may wait to see where they are in July and teams want to see how healthy Sheets is by then as well. He seems more viable than C.C. being that he’s on a non-contending club in Milwaukee.

Moeller intentionally walked. Well I never

Michael Kay “Last night was the first time the Yanks blew two seperate 4 run leads in one game since 1939″

shocking. Still Hawkins on top of all that still managed to blow it a third time.

Matt the thing about Chacon is he runs hot and cold. One thing he does is eat up innings and frankly he is better than some of the guys we throw out there

Using Mo on back to back nights. WOW

How bad was A-Rod’s error? Man I hate that.

Way to close it Mo. But everyone on this blog knows this team should have won 2 0ut of 3 in Camden Yards.

I’m real anxious about Joba’s start on Tuesday, I’d like to see how he fares pitching five to six innings. We’ll see…

*fairs

BDSouth we will see if this kid has got what it takes to be a starter in the majors. He obviously has the stuff for 1-2 innings but it will be interesting to see the adjustments he makes a 2nd or 3rd time through a lineup. I just hope he challenges the hitters and throws a first pitch strike.

jhtravers,

The Yanks don’t need a pitcher who runs hot and cold, they need one who can be consistent throughtout the rest of the
season, and provide stability to the staff, something it hasn’t had much of this season. He’s more of a NL pitcher than anything else, his numbers are a little better in the NL.

BD, no, it’s fares.

Woke my wife up when I yelled “NICE PLAY BUCKNER!” at the TV in the bottom of the 9th last night. 3rd E in the last few games ARod? Should we expect to hear or read reports of you out in the DC area with some floozy now???

I think Joba again proved his worth as a setup man last night and I’m afraid we might all live to regret having to move him to the rotation. Remember, you heard it here first. Think about it. After Tuesday night, who would we have trotted out there in the 7th? I think Veras was the only arm in the pen who didn’t pitch Tuesday. And if he gets one out and out of the inning, does he come back in the 8th? You’re not throwing Mo out for another two inning save. There’s just something to be said for wrapping the game up after the 7th inning. Mark my words.
Chris Britton???? COME ON! WE’VE GOT BIJILIONS OF GOOD ARMS ON THE FARM AND Chris “Frequent Flyer” Britton gets the call? There’s a reason he has enough FF miles to fly around the world. If he were pitching lights out he’d stay with the club….

On last nights game, nice job Andy! Thanks for the effort!

rcngolf99, Britton HAS been lights out in the minors and pretty darn good in the majors too. He hasn’t gotten a fair chance on the big club and wouldn’t you rather see him with the ball late in the game than Hawkins?

Joe Torre wishes he had Rivera after closer walks the side.
Mets pinch ran with a pitcher last night, never saw that before.
Manny Ramirez could be an outfielder for us next year.
Mattress Susuki’s black Shelley Duncan.
Giambi is playing for a deal.

I have to admit that I’m a little worried about the left side of the infield right now. Both Arod and Jeter just don’t look right right now. Jeter’s hand has obviously been bugging him lately (I can’t explain the mental errors, but I’m sure those are just a blip) and the last two days Arod seems to favoring that quad more than he had the last week. It’s one thing if he runs gingerly to first, but if you look at his swing, he seems to be overcompensating right now. He’s not driving the ball to right-center like he does and that to me says he doesn’t trust that right leg. If the Yankees don’t have Arod or Jeter playing well, that’ll make this tough.

Bpark continues his Ciailis-induced erection for 35+ year old players.
Bpark needs to just stop it already with wanting old man after old man after old man after old man after……
Giambi could win the AL MVP and STILL shouldn’t get a deal with NYY
We’ll have almost 100 million dollars for 2009. If we can’t find a setup guy on the market when we have that much money to spend, our NEW GM needs to be immediately fired.
Any of you taking more stock in a setup man than a starting pitcher just don’t have much experience with the game
Britton hasn’t FAILED yet, he’s sporting an ERA under 2.00, so give him a shot for Christ’s sake! Or, do we want to see Hawkins and his 6.80 ERA in the middle to late innings?
Next year’s rotation (with CC) would be CC, Wang, Pettite (MAYBE), Chamberlain, Hughes. Putting Chamberlain back in the pen is the stupidest f-ing thing I have ever heard. Unless I count Man-Ram playing left field for the Yanks in 09. Then THAT is the stupidest f-ing thing I have ever heard. Unless you count Clemens pitching EVER again for the Yankees. Then THAT is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Unless you count -well- you get the idea.
Bpark’s baseball credibility has gone from the penthouse to the basement. I am beginning to feel like I am losing IQ points reading his posts.
I am also getting a little tired of Bpark’s borderline racist comments. (and this is coming from me: a resident of Idaho, a right wing conservative nut-job [they call me "bedlam"], and a decendant of Confederate Southerners.)
One win when we should have had 2 of 3 does NOT make it all better. Call me when we are 10 games OVER .500. Shoot me it we fall 10 games under.

OK! UNCLE UNCLE! I’ll give Britton a chance. My guess is his name will be the first called tomorrow night in the middle of the 6th when Moose is done throwing 6.2 innings of 3 run ball on his way to an 8-4 record. But you can say what you want with Chamberlain in the pen or in the rotation. If we’ve got a pen that starts throwing games like it did last year then joba’s going to need to throw CG’s to amount any sort of winning record while recording a 2.2 era.

Not sayin’ that a strong setup man is not important. He’s just not AS important as a strong starter. I don’t feel safe giving anyone the ball in the late innings before MO, either, but we need to settle our rotation before we settle who pitches the 8th.

Priorities.

OK, first of all, I finally got my bpark filter working now, so I’m done with him, and his idiotic lunacy. One last thing I got to say to you bpark. Don’t forget to get your NAMBLA membership updated, Clemens, and Betapuke will never keep you around for their fun if you don’t!!

I think the important thing is we all be patient with Chamberlain, and not start with the “Chamberlain sucks as a starter” blasts. He may have a rough go of it at first, but that’s only because this team won’t prepare him for his new role properly since they can’t afford to send him to the minors to do that for a month. Like I said, if he doesn’t work out as a starter the Yanks can send him back to the pen for the rest of the season. Just think if the Yanks did try him out as a starter at the beginning of the season, then we might not have been subjected to Kennedy’s failings as a starter.

So how deep will Chamberlain be able to go as a starter on a good day…. five, six innings maybe? Cause he’s still on a innings restriction, right? And when is Philly Hughes supposed to be back, I kinda miss him. And when he is back, I wonder if Girardi will put him in the pen and make him earn his way back to the rotation….

If Rasner and Joba can pitch well, Hughes will have to. Why fix what’s not broken. Hey, what if Hughes can throw the 8th? LOL

jeterstar,

I would say Chamberlain will be pitching about 5 innings to start with, and then his innings will gradually increase. innings restrictions is much less of a concern at this time and point, it all depends on how he does. He only has 23 2/3 IP so far,so the gloves need to come off and let this guy loose. As for Hughes, I’ve heard a target date of sometime late July or early August. I think if Hughes does well in his rehab Girardi will put him back in the rotation and possibly replace Rasner depending on how he is doing.

Matt, I hope Rasner and Joba are both performing well, so that we have a real tough decision ahead of us.

I agree, I just get the feeling the Yanks want to see Hughes in the rotation, since he is a highly-regarded prospect, and they consider him as the possible ace of this staff in the future, they want to see what he can do as a starter.

If Rasner is killing it, then we may just have a real good trade prospect in him? What do you think?

That’s a definite possibility, but only if this team is out of it altogether. If it is out of it, the Yanks could trade him to a team who is still in the playoff picture, and is looking for pitching in which case the possibilities could be endless. The Yanks could possibly trade him for a future 1B or OF or future lefthander. But with Crashman you never know, we could end up with another Betapuke.

man-ram would need a two-day haricut, before he can become a NYY.

yeah, great idea get philladelphia to hew some innings in the 7/8 innings,

joba-starta’
next wednesday headlines can read:
“Joba gives a flopa”
or
“Joba is the REAL yankee stoppa”

i say in three attempts as a starter, we will know if he can breathe in/out after 3 innings.

he should be 3-0 and 2.22 era as a starta’

Great story on Cutter Dykstra. I loved watching his dad Lenny play as a kid. He was awesome, and I don’t think there was another ball player who could pack his mouth with more chaw. The guy just looked like a ball player. LOL.

He already has 2 losses in relief. Don’t look for him to just show up and dominate. Look what we got when we expected similar results from Hughes and IPKei.

Well, I’ll tell you what. Joba’s going to need to do more than fire heaters and sliders like he did last night….. I think that, more than anything is going to be tough for him and could be where this experiment fails. We’ll see.

If this experiment does fail, it will be due to a lack of preparation rather than his ability as a starter.

He does have a really good uncle charlie, and his changeup is above average too. I think I remember seeing that he also is throwing a 2-seamer as well.

This team really needs something to go right. I hope that Joba is the spark.

Chaz (bedlem) Now I know why I enjoy reading your blogs. A Conservative Idahoan of Southern stock, and an avid Yankees fan. Before this Bombers Beat I had never blogged before. I find most of you are so much more Up on the Yanks that I could ever be. I’m just a fan enjoying myself. I am amazed at how much time and effort you all put into your blogs. I’m an old timer, back to Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio and to Mantle. One of my all time favorites along with the above is the “Thumper” One of the greatest hitters of all time Ted Williams. I haven’t been to the Yankee Stadium in over 55 years, But I can recall the good old days. I enjoying reading all your opinions of what should or should not be done. It’s like you’re all fantasy GMs. Please keep up the good work.,
I must say this Joe should have put Joba in the game to hold the the 8-4 lead. especially when he didn’t pitch his 50 pitches last night, He just did his normal relief job.
“GO YANKEES”

Ted was awesome, just won’t give him all the props he deserves because he had that funny B on his hat!

The Sox have their Big Poppy. The Yanks are stuck with Big Floppy. I’ve never a play flop in clutch situations more than ARod and I’ve followed baseball and the Yanks for 60+ years. He can’t even advance runners much less get them in when we need it.
