More bad news for the Yankees

Jorge Posada was removed from the game with a recurrence of the right shoulder stiffness that affected him last week. He’ll go for a MRI tomorrow in Kansas City and the Yankees aren’t ruling out the disabled list. Posada said he feels “dead” in his arm and isn’t able to put anything on his throws.

1.9 mill is a small contract by today’s standards, it wouldn’t be much of a loss to cut Betamit, it’s not like he will ever improve as a hitter. The Yanks can’t afford to wait for him. The Dodgers definitely got the better of this deal.

I think Betemit = $1.9M

And I know some of you wanted Woodward over Betemit. Both have 2 hits with Woodward one less AB and Woodward has three Es in AAA.

Betemit may not be the answer, but he still has less than 100 ABs for the Yanks. Too soon to through him away!

I don’t think Betamit has a big contract so this team does have options like trading him a way or just cutting him. I’m still not sold on Farnsworth.

I know we’re all true fans here so I didn’t mean to come off like than, and then add a few adult beverages in my system and that pops out. I think Betemit and Farnsworth are in the same boat, we’re stuck with them even if we try to move them but at least Farnsworth is performing.

Of course, that will be followed swiftly by a pink slip.

In a way I kinda feel sorry for Betemit. He looks like he’s trying. He just…well…isn’t that good. I think he needs a hug.

Trust me, who, I was making jokes about how we were playing last night BECAUSE of all the things you illustrated in your post. It’s only April. I would imagine that the bats will wake up any time, and then we are in business. I meant no disrespect to the Yankees with my posts, just making light of the situation.
Now then, Wilson Bet “We should do exactly what Matt says if Jeter has to take a stint on the DL” amit is another matter. He is the worst utility man to ever wear a Yankee uniform in the 105 years we have been called the Yankees. I would take 20 Luis Sojos before one Wilson Betemit. At least Enrique was a Red Sox killer. Miguel Cairo would at least get the bat on the ball and force the other team to make a play. We need to drop Betamit like a hot rock.

Interesting idea and I think it wouldn’t be a big deal for A-Rod to play short for a game or two… it’s not like he has to relearn the position, does he?! ;)

Yeah not good with the injuries. Hard to believe we haven’t had a steal yet either… I do recall Jete getting caught once… guess we learned our lesson! :P

I actually do agree with Matt on this one. Now before you do it, I think you should make sure Arod is still nimble enough to play short. Luckily he doesn’t actually have to be that good at it anymore since his bat will make up the difference (yesterday notwithstanding, heh). So unless you have some really really good glove who can also hit lurking in the farm somewhere, I think you have to move Arod over. Besides he’s right on the cusp of the all-time HRs for a shortstop. Now’s the time to let him break it!

This is interesting:

The Yankees have yet to steal a base in any of their eight games this season. …

“Still, Meacham said Betemit can “absolutely” fill in without hurting the Yankees for a few days or a week. ”

REALLY Bobby? And K 4 times last night and 7 times in 13 AB’s this season???? Of course, he IS batting higher than Giambino…..

I think moving A-Rod would be a mistake. He’s in his position. To make those kinds of changes for an everyday guy isn’t easy at all. But Bet”I can K with the best of”amit isn’t the solution. We have options on the farm. Time for a call up.

That’s in interesting idea Matt, I like it but I’ll also like anything to get Betemit out of the line-up, he’s atrocious at best.

NOt to blame for the offense definitely not, with weather conditions like this a 10-8 game was in order. The bats are sleeping now but the Yankees started slow and really came to late later, hopefully it doesn’t take an All Star break to wake them up but I’m not worried. If I were a Tigers fan I’d be worried, we’re .500 not .000.

Yankee offense was showing signs it was going into a coma in lat ST. Weather conditions are not to blame.

Blaming the Yanks’ woes is just an excuse. Both teams have to play in the same bad weather. It’s just not an excuse to not be able to generate enough offense while your opponent can in the same weather. This team is fine with Betamit as Jeter’s replacement at short? Who the heck have they been watching? With players going down with injuries like Giambi, and now Posada, this team can’t afford to have a player who can’t produce offensively while striking out 3-4 times per game. This is why I say I like the idea of moving Rodriguez over to short, and have Ensberg at 3B, at least you will be adding more offense to a lineup that is struggling offensively, and is injury-prone right now.
