Cheesesteaks and baseball

Hello to everyone from Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla., just a short drive over the causeway where the Yankees are playing the Phillies, and probably my favorite road Spring Training park.

The Yankees are playing under National League rules, which means, yes, Chien-Ming Wang is going to grab a bat and dig in for the Bombers. But that’s about all he’ll do — Joe Girardi has already told him not to swing, in what must have been one of the most scintillating conversations in the history of Major League Baseball.

Johnny Damon is still under the weather from the flu, and it’s been going around quite a bit. Some of the reporters are even starting to catch it. I’m planning on picking up some Vitamin C later today in a last ditch effort to avoid getting hit — clubhouses can be like incubators for that kind of stuff. In other (real) news, Alex Rodriguez is expected to address the media later today with a statement regarding Jose Canseco’s book.

Prowe, Bryan Hoch posted it yesterday. I doubt Green has AAA options.

I’m as confused as you are, Matt. I’ve been hoping the Yanks take Woodward, because Woodward is on a hot streak and is outhitting Betemit. Our lineup has so much pop in it, that Betemit’s pop really isn’t that big of a positive.

wat happened with “jose’ book.” I never heard anything about this?

Why even get rid of a hitter who is hitting .393 like Woodward, and keep a hitter who is only hitting .167 like Betemit. Granted, Woodward has 20 fewer ABs but has more hits than Betemit? He has clearly outplayed Betemit.

I think Green decided to stay on, and go to AAA rather than be released altogether.

bpark,

Where are you seeing that news posted? I don’t see it anywhere.

Info is posted but Nick Green had a terrible spring and he remains. I guess I am wondering if his experience is the reason for that and could Green somehow end up on the roster?

Level boss, that’s not nice. I still didn’t get my cheese steak. I have to wait once every 3 months to get a Philly Cheese Steak. I’m sure info about Woodward will be posted.

Woodward has been cut. Green has not…Can someone clarify the reasoning here?

That’s what my only complaint about the site was, everything is squeezed too close together, making it a little difficult to find things, my eyesight isn’t what it used to be.

I wish Bryan wouldn’t mention cheese steaks because I could go for one now especially a Philly cheese steak.

I don’t know why a couple of people are complaining about the new web site. Other than it’s not asthetically pleasing, it isn’t hard to find what you’re looking for. You just scroll down. One problem is, there is too much c_r_a_p cluttered together. Spread the pictures out or change their sizes so we don’t stare at a checkers board.

Is Tino Martinez in the front office? Could he succeed Cashman? I’d rather have Tino on the bench.

Ok, that was a pathetic outing by our lineup. 2 hits thru 8 innings? At least the relievers looked good.

Two good games in Japan…

Of course, game “number one” was not good news for us Yankee fans, a 6-5 Boston win…

But, today’s game had a happy ending, with the A’s winning 5-1…

Rich Harden pitched a great game for the A’s [6 IP; 9 K's]; and, the big hit of the game was a 3-run homer [in the 3rd] by Emil Brown!

And, yeah, Manny Ramirez had a HR today, and 5 RBI’s in the two games! He did have two big hits in the first game, a 2-run double, in the top of the 6th; and, the 2-run double in the top of the 10th, that drove in the winning runs in the 6-5 Red Sox win…

But, Manny, also, struck-out “three times” today, including twice while standing at the plate, looking at the called third strike!

I enjoyed watching [and, live-blogging] both Red Sox vs. A’s games from Japan…It was a great way to start each day, watching live baseball action while enjoying my morning coffee! It would have been even more fun if Boston lost both games, but we can live with the split for now!

Only 5-days until “Opening Day” at the Stadium !!!

Go Yankees! Number 27 in 2008 !!!

I see Manny’s on a tear. He could reach a hr milestone if he stays healthy.

******** has to make some money since he squandered his away… I wouldn’t read his book if you paid me, and paid me well even.

Isn’t it oh so convenient that the book is due out in conjunction with the season starting? Hmmm

Sorry Jose, you’re like that annoying little kid that won’t shut up and never had anything of substance to say anyway… you’re not important, you’re not a baseball savior, you’re not even a decent person.

But like P.T. Barnum said, “There’s a ******’s born every minute” so that POS will make some money on it… but it won’t be off of me!

Is the book fiction or non-fiction? Non-fiction would open him up to lible would it not?!

****, even their pitcher got an RBI in his ab (without credit for a hit….)

Matt, I guess I misheard about the unearned runs yesterday. I said the 4 runs were earned, I may have heard that the 4 Yankee runs were earned. “Mia Culpa”. The count down is on…

Jose’ should mind his own business, (I suppose that’s what he’s doing, Making money at other peoples expense.) I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of buying his trashy books.
Wang not to swing?? Joe just don’t want him to show his power He’s our new secret weapon!
