Leyland said in a morning press conference that he plans to check with A-Rod about his status and availability for Tuesday’s game:

"I’m not going to do anything foolish. I’ll speak with
A-Rod and every other player. Placido Polanco is a little banged up. I’ll play
it by ear. I’ll pretty much get a feel. I know he wants to play and I certainly
appreciate that. But I’ll be careful with everybody’s players. I don’t want to
do anything foolish."

Bryan,

Where do all the media/reporters sit during the HR Derby/ALL Star Game?…im sure theres no way the area where the media sits usually can fit all the guys from all the teams.

Hi — You’re right, the press box is rather packed here at AT&T Park. There are several media workrooms scattered through the ballpark and a large section of left field is also cordoned off as tables for media overflow seating… you’ve probably seen similar setups at Yankee Stadium for the postseason. I can only imagine the logistical challenge to pack in everybody who will be working next year at the Yankee Stadium All-Star Game.

I should mention that it’s a great privilege to be here and covering this event. Like the players, I’d like to think that the members of the media realize the significance of this event. I certainly do.

Bryan,

I disagree with you. Stacked was when we had about 8 all-stars and Torre managed them one year.

I disagree as well. I don’t write the headlines, though.

My apologies. This is the fewer all-stars we’ve had recently?
