Rocket to ride Subway
Tonight we get to see a better idea of what Roger Clemens is really going to offer this team down the stretch.
Taking advantage of a young, aggressive Pirates lineup was a good starter test for
Clemens, who allowed three runs on five hits in that start but, more importantly, came
out healthy — the latter statement being much more crucial to the Yankees than
seven strikeouts or the standing ovation that Clemens earned as he left.
As numerous Yankees players said yesterday, the Mets have a very respectable
offense — perhaps the National League’s best. They’re
ball”>odd relationship
League club.
There are no witnesses to any of the Clemens’ bat-throwing, Mike Piazza-drilling hoopla that happened in 2000, Adam Rubin writes. Nor was anyone on the Mets bench tonight in the park when Shawn Estes threw behind Clemens’ posterior in 2002, then hit a home run off the Rocket later in the game.
There was a time when Clemens vs. the Mets surely equaled icy glares coming from the other dugout, but times have changed. I wouldn’t expect craziness to erupt tonight (except, of course, in the seats), but hey, you never know.
– Chien-Ming Wang is the most silent voice in the Yankees’ clubhouse, doling out
his words in a near-whisper. He’s well-liked by his teammates – even though they
intentionally mispronounce his name (it should be WO-ng) – but most probably can’t
fathom just how popular Wang is in his native Taiwan. The Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger’s Ed Price takes another good outing for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre yesterday, limiting the Charlotte Knights to a run over six innings. If Clippard falters in his rematch with the Mets, the Yankees might seriously consider making a switch.
– Finally, the fate of Larry Bowa’s hair rests in the hands of the Yankees. If the win streak reaches 10, Bowa has a date with a barber.
Talk to you all from the Stadium later today.

Kei Igawa’s outing in Scranton yesterday included a 1-13 GB-FB ratio. He’ll get creamed in the Majors with those numbers.
Roger is going to get up for this game – no SP wants to be the one to drop a dud and end the streak!
Matt , you are one of the worst all-time bloggers! No team is free of holes , and you are definitely an azzzhole . Analyze yourself , then come back and post producive posts , cocksaicker . We lost a bat at DH which we are not needing right now . And the Yanks will prove they will not need em’ again . When this year is said and done , you will see how right I’ve always been this year long , predicting catastrophe and restauration , with keen accuracy . I say we end up 4 back by the All-Star game , no more than 6 back . Good enough to build a strategy from that point on to piece together win – streaks and at least get the wild Card . After that , all bets are off! See you in October , unless I catch u rooting for another team on another blog , in which case I’ll deal with you personally . And one last though . Since you are the typical idiot blogger , let me ask you this : Isn’t it MORONIC ( e.g. mattsaikiness) to leave holes defensively in your team ? You know the answer , dickwad , and the Yankees have beter defense , much better defense right now than before the winning ways of late .Also , they have scored 92 runs in the last 13 games , that being a healthy SEVEN runs a game . Judging by this stat alone , one wouldn’t know that CRIPPLING offensive hole you talk about exists . Like goff said , you contradict yourself so much that it ain’t funny , only to me it is funny to read your turdeater posts . hehehe . You have no credibility at all . Shut up! So you see , you are left in ridicule. I must not be challenged by worms like you .
R.I.P. Dickwad
Go Yanks!!!
Listen, I’ve never written to any BLOG and perhaps this will be my first and last, but we need to elevate the conversation a bit, for no other reason than to show the rest of Basebal America why Yankee fans are truly best in show-a class above the rest. Okay, lets talk defense. Cairo has been good at first but he’s not the answer, because ultimately you need both a good glove and a bat at that position. The simple and immediate answer is to call-up ANDY PHILLIPS right now. Add him to the 40 man Roster, and while he’s playing second in AAA this season, he can play 1B, and hit. He’s actually a better hitter than anyone they now have at the position. Lets get ANDY PHILLIPS back on the team. The guy has always been a tremedous hitter, with a good glove.
sentinel of fools ( OOPS, gods), F— you. Did your parent beat you with an ugly stick so much it cause brain damage, or are you sticking your finger up in parts of your body you shouldn’t be, and getting a high off of that? That too can cause brain damage you retarded ****. Of course every team has holes in it, I never said they don’t, idiot!!!! The ride the Yanks are on is great, but it won’t last jack ***!!!! This team has to be ready when that ride ends. We all know ( except you ) the first base situation is a band aid solution, as is the DH, both will become bigger problems as the season goes along idiot. Only a fool like you would get overconfident based on a 9 game win streak against mediocre teams. Talk about stupid, open your eyes. Stop bringing up Yankee teams from ten years ago, they have nothing to do with today’s team, fool!!!! This team still lacks solid pitching, and still not very solid defensively. You did prove me wrong on one thing. I didn’t think there was a bigger retard than him until you showed your ugly puss
sentineloffools, that “him” I was talking about is goff.
sentinelofgods, matt is right, you are an idiot. Learn to spell *****. You’re also a classless !@#$%^&
Bryan—if folks are going to use this kind of language in a MLB/Yankees Blog, please post a disclaimer that this website is not suitable for children. My 13 year old daughter is a huge yankess fan and she enjoys reading about the yankees. what better place to do so than thier OFFICIAL MLB site? we watch every game together. personally, i don’t care about the language people use. i grew up in locker rooms and played one of the 3 major sports professionally. i use inappropriate language myself (but not in front of children). i will continue to read the posts and she will be forbidden (unfortunately). i enjoy your writings and she will continue to read what you write…just not what the fans have to say…and i think that’s a shame.
yanks they all LOSERS !!!
That’s right, guys. Clean it up or we’ll have to start blocking and banning people. That’s not a road I want to have to go down.
dwlittle@telepath.com, I deeply apologize to you and your daughter for using the language I have been using. You and your daughter have every right to use this blog without having to put up with that kind of launguage from me or anyone else. I just lost my temper, and didn’t think children would be using this blog ( I must be an idiot ). I can give you a 100% guarantee you will never see me use that type of language again on this blog. I just used bad judgment, and utilized immature methods to being personally attacked for expressing my thoughts and opinions regarding the Yankees. I just can’t stand it when people can’t accept different thoughts, and opinions from their own and resort to foul language, name calling, and personal attacks as has been perpetuated by certain people on this blog against others. I hope your daughter continues to use this blog, because it is very good, and hope she stays a huge Yankees. I also deeply apologize to Bryan as well and make the same guarantee that I will not use that language anymore.AGain, please accept my deepest apologies.
thank you matt, and apology accepted (although you don’t owe me one)–i was not offended. every person has the right to express their thoughts. i fully expect passionate yankees fans to use this blog. that’s what makes it enjoyable. some fans have well thought out posts…others don’t. i was simply concerned about some of the words used as being a little too harsh for some of the youngsters (and maybe i have the only young one that reads this–i don’t know). no one will ever use a word i haven’t heard before and i am not trying to dampen the enthusiasm expressed on this board. just seems to me that yankees fans are yankees fans and there’s really not any reason i can think of to attack each other and call each other vulgar names–the sox fans will come to this board and do it to us enough.
well, that was interesting, especially the way matt saiki found to apologize and pass the blame at the same time
goffcg25, I accept my part of the whole thing, but you and sentinel started the whole thing ( don’t lie about it ) by calling names, and using insults just because someone has different opinions, and beliefs from yours. Neither you or sentinel are smart enough to know everything and are right about everything. So both you and sentinel better grow up and start respecting other people’s opinions. I know you don’t respect other people’s opinions because I’ve seen you and sentinel insult other people in postings, grow up!! The only question remains is if you and sentinel have enough class to post an apology to dwlittle for your part. Whether you do or don’t is up to you, but it would show people Yankees fans do have class. But if you don’t, it just goes to show that certain people do have class, and certain people don’t.
matt saiki, you go dude!!!! tell it like it is. you’re a big man for apologizing like you did. just one thing though, stay away from blaming others, those of us who follow this blog know who started what, and who is at fault. It just makes you look disingenuous.
dwlittle, I hope you and your daughter continue to visit this blog and stay yankees fans!!
Bryan, I hate to see you resort to it, but maybe you should start banning certain people ( goff & sentinel ) from this blog.
Matt saiki, way to go dude, you showed us some class with that apology, I’m sure you won’t be using that type of language again. As to whether goff & sentinel have that kind of class, well that remains to be seen.
You guys are sooooo funny . And all this politically correct people make me sick . Just go ahead and let your little daughter who doesn’t understand baseball read this blog! bryan , you know better . I , along with some other fiery fans , have revived your blog . I know you don’t want to ban us . Still , I’ll try to restrain myself from using offensive words , even though mattsaiki is an obscene word in its own right . Go Yanks!!!
No class , baby , just like A-Rod . Sorry goff , for dragging you into this .
sentinel–i never asked anyone to be polically correct. i never asked anyone to clean up their language. if you will read the post, i simply asked bryan to post a disclaimer that this website was ‘not suitable for children’ so other parents would know to keep their kids out of here. some of us try to raise our kids in a way to protect them at such a young age. i’m not suggesting you do the same for your kids. i just think it’s inappropriate to have a child at that age to have to ask her dad what a ‘dickwad’ is. if that ‘makes [you] sick’, good…then you are sick.
bryan never needed help in reviving his blog…first, there is/was nothing wrong with it. second, you ran folks off by your posts; not encouraged others to post. i suspect my response to your post will bring some childish response from you. i would expect nothing less. just so you know, i understand everybody is tough on the internet…you are the prime example. as a general proposition, talking negatively about another man’s child in this country would get your butt whipped. since no one knows from which rock you crawled out from under, you are safe.
unbelievable…let’s all sing kumbaya around our great trible leader, matt saiki!!
pgarrett and glewis, get over yourselves with the class and all that ****…now don’t get me wrong, what i said isn’t necessarily right, and i do apologize to you dwlittle because some of this language has been excessively vulgar, but you people acting like matt saiki is some kind of upstanding role model are just making yourselves look foolish
as for you saiki, you’re clearly playing a childish “he made me do it” game, and that’s sad because if you look back in the blog, i criticized you, and you responded with the first personal attack by calling me a dope, imploring me to get a guide dog, etc….did i respond in a similar manner and play a role in escalating it? sure, and that wasn’t classy…but dude, just get over yourself with saying that me and sentinel don’t respect other people’s opinions…you have a right to have them, and if YOU MAKE THEM PUBLIC ON A BLOG, which is designed for discussion and feedback, you can’t expect others to ignore something they don’t agree with and get all upset when you’re criticized
i’m not attacking your religion, dude, just your stream of thought about our baseball team
now, let’s all just get over it and move on
goff, first of all props to you for showing just a little bit of class by apologizing, and admitting that the language was vulgar. However, you need to review your own postings, and you will find that you started with the insults, and name calling. I don’t call names and insult people like I have on this blog without good reason. Were my own actions childish, of course and I admitted it in my apology. But you and sentinel need to realize your name calling and insults of others is not a discussion or simple feedback. You guys are going to have to review your own posting and grasp that concept. This isn’t about political correctness or me thinking I’m better than anyone else, I never said that. This is about respecting other people’s opinions and you don’t do that by foul language, personal attacks or name calling. It’s fine if people disagree with me on any point they want, but don’t be disrespectful. The only reason I started doing it with you and sentinel isn’t because you guys have differing opinions, it’s because, like I said you disrespect people. IF anyone has been immature besides myself it’s you and sentinel. This blog is part of a public domain, anyone can get access to it including children they shouldn’t have to put up with foul language, that is what this is about. Obviously you and sentinel can’t grasp that concept. One last thing, it’s not a discussion if you’re “attacking” someone’s ideas. Unfortunately, I doubt snetinel will give a real apology. LikeI said there are certain types of people with class, and there some with none.
dwlittle, don’t even bother responding to sentinel. It’s like banging your head on a wall. He obviously can’t grab the concept of what is being said, that is why he thinks we’re being politically correct wneh that isn’t what this is about at all. Just for the record, based on sentinel’s past postings, I think your 13 year-old daughter knows more about baseball than sentinel.
I can see we’re going to have to go down a path I didn’t want to. Just so you all know, I don’t have the time to be on here and police every hour of every day. This blog is secondary to covering the Yankees. But I’ve passed it on to people at MLB and they’ll be making decisions from here.
Cool it. I’m serious. This needs to be a board where all Yankees fans can go to discuss and read about their favorite team. If you prefer a more vulgar environment, please go elsewhere.
